Guest Randy S.
Is this the same Starwood of Sheraton and Westin hotels? What other ski areas or resorts do they own? Intrawest generally has a good rep with resorts, what's their role?

Its the same Starwood as Sheraton/Westin/etc. They are opening the Westin Monache in Mammoth across from the streen from the village in about a year. skategoat
Intrawest - good rep? They are reviled in Quebec where they have turned an affordable local mountain into a bloated corporate "destination" where it's all about selling timeshares and filling overpriced hotel rooms. Mammoth regulars should be thrilled that Intrawest is out of the picture. Now if only they could unload Tremblant.
Guest dragon fly jones
Don't expect to see a W hotel down in Bishop or Mammoth any time soon. This is just a foray to diversify the holding for that brand. Not sure they understand the marketplace but they do know resort operations and it could be an improvement. The jury will be out on this one until it closes and the bidness is all wrapped up. 2 second analysis from an industry vet.
bobdea
going to merge with ASC but they backed out at the last minute. Is this the same company?
kipstar
When I was there INtrawest were not so popular; everyone wanted to see Rusty Gregory running the show. So... does anyone know if Rusty will actually be doing that? I heard $70 lift tickets - the place was so crazy crowded on my 2 dayer there last year; cannot ever seeing hitting up Chair 2 or 23 again on a weekend.
