I went for the 12m to carve longer and faster turns witch it does superbly. I also asked for a stiffer board for hard carving. I got what I asked for and I'm very happy with it! I can turn pretty tight with it if I want to, just need to flex those knees and put the board on edge!

Yup, if I was on your hills I’d do the same! I’m taking mine to Louise next week so should be fun to test some limits on the 10m.

Mine’s 7.0+9

I said the same thing and was told the nose is a functional design feature. I'm gonna have to ride one to find out how and why, if I can figure out which way is forward. The wood topsheet veneer is the aesthetic alternative to supply issues with printed fabric.

@Keenan I was talking to mark about my next board and he sent me a picture of your board. He really knows how to make you (me?) really want another board.

That woodworking is incredible, but I just can’t get aesthetically comfortable with those butterfly noses! It’s not you, it’s me….

It's not just you that is a rhopaloceraphobe.  But that wood work though... beautiful!

Honestly, how many people promptly looked up the meaning?  I know I did 🙂
The only butterfly i have ever been scared of is anything more than the 50 meters!

Thanx Saint - that's a new one for me.

PS: great looking board!!!!

Me too! No hate for butterflies here either! Has flatseptumsnowboardophobia been officially approved by our resident clinical psychologists?

I love some of these natural-wood-look boards we’re seeing—Winterstick, Thirst, Vaughan….I saw Mark Fawcett seems to be affiliated with some small board maker in BC called Kindred. Great stuff!!

The last edition to the quiver for a while now (I think).  This scratches that itch I've had for the Alpine Punk Metal Burner.

A Virus Le Surf Pro Carbon Titan 185 with the width shaved down by a couple of centimeters (25mm waist to 23mm).  After about 15 runs I've had it on ice, pow and hero snow.  Currently running a lot of underhang on the boots, while I try to incrementally adjust to shallower angles.  Going from 65/60 to 60/55 felt really weird at the start.  Can confirm that the board floats really well in pow while standing with my weight centered and it makes the ice just disappear.  I was actually looking for some ice in today's hero snow, just because the board stays locked in.  It looks dope as 5#!7 too!

Between this board and the Kessler 162, I could almost imagine going to a two board quiver.

I just took delivery on my new stick. A 2023 Donek Voyager with Secret Construction. The bummer is it went from 25F to 45F over the past day and a half with rain next week. Either way the board’s fit and finish are amazing. I can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks @Donek!

The board on the left is what hooked me. A 2005 FCII.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just received the 50th Anniversary Winterstick Swallowtail. Number 13 of 50. My first Winterstick/ snowboard was number 13 first one sold to the public, the other twelve were sent to potential dealers. Delivered the same week in February as my first one, 47 years later. Super Stoked!

I would post pics but I'm truly a luddite when it comes to doing that, sorry.

This feels like the only snowboard I’ve ever seen I would not actually ride! Put that thing safely on a wall and chat about it with your grandkids one day.

Yeah, and I got that price wrong, it was in USD so tack on another 30% for those of us in North Canuckistan.

ETA: apparently I was right the first time. Still, $CDN2473 is a lot for a snowboard.

Wowsers…..[edit: $2473 in CAD….around a custom Kessler/Oxess….expensive but not crazy for a limited edition!]

Damn well better put that right up on the wall, tell the wife it’s the highest art form! Because I’m already hating myself for the inevitable lift-line meltdown when some 14yo jerry rides up the tail at 9:30am my first day out….. 🤣

Birth of a star.

Yup, NASA's James Webb telescope shot of the Carina Nebula (aka the Cosmic Cliffs).  It's criminal to put bindings on this board... I'm a criminal.  My photo does not do it justice. Big thanks to @Carvin' Marvin for the inspiration to put a cool graphic on the board.

Big THANK YOU to @Bruce Varsava for working with me and creating this board.

It's a 173 AC Contra (~11.5 SCR) with a 26 cm waist with torsion pads under the inserts.  I know it looks like a BXFR but it's not... this is a hardboot Contra.

Here's a video of the unpeeling... no I don't know why my son did some slo-mo....

"I designed and left it quite stiff so hope that works out. Stiffest Contra ever!" -BV

I know @johnasmo hand just hit his forehead...  Look with all my gear on I'm 125kg...  ok...
Really, it's what I would call Donek stiff but not 80/90s race board stiff.

Bruce's numbers- T173 AC 024 DW - 7.3 + 9

Looking to be a first chair tomorrow...
