New UPZ RC12/RCR

hi all,

seems that UPZ has done an interesting development on their boots - notice the tongue fixiation point finally being at front toe area of the shell, instead of being fixed at a side of the shell.

Also notice that the fixation teeth are no longer a part of the tongue, meaning that the tongue can move a little without interference from fixed points.

Your thoughts?

It's been this way since the RC10.  You can also buy an ankle strap and modify older boots to work this way.

Only ankle strap was there for for rc10.

Notice that now both of the lower buckles fasten on straps, instead of being attached to a tongue.

Its a little revolution to upz boots I think.

@yamifumiThere have to have been new shell moulds made to accommodate the design changes seen in the photos. I suspect UPZ don't see changing the direction of pull of the strap that comes in front of the ankle as important. My preference is for the direction that Northwave/Mountainslope use.

Could be that they used the AT8 lower mould, buckle position seems identical

I loved the RC 8 back in the day.. I welcome the come back..

The extra buckle over the foot seemed over kill and always crushed my foot.. OK then loosen them you say... OK again then what's the point of extra..

Being able to wiggle my toes to keep circulation was always a bonus, boots always have had a great heel pocket.

I liked the rc8 as it held my ankle in place better..

Will see.

I hope they have options on tounge stiffness..

I will look to snag a pair.

So, this seems like a little bit of a marriage from the way the UPZs were and the way the DeeLuxe do theirs...

UPZs have superior heel hold and the DeeLuxe are much easier to get in and out of...

Maybe a bit of the best of both worlds?
