west carven Posted September 1, 2021 Report Share Posted September 1, 2021 snowreport: wed sep 01, 2021 howdy all well, no snow yet, but much cooler comfy temps than the brutal summer heat. I would take a dip in the river after work to cool down. the days seem to fly by and we are already in September. I am having foot issues and it has been about a week and a half, it is not fun and I hope it does not affect my riding. got a new to me 160 donek incline that looks new and can't wait to try it. still need to get my pass and will work on it soon when my foot heals up. Looking forward to riding with you guys, I got a new board coming out Kessler 159 x-carve also I'm bringing the Ogasaka 162 FC-X and the Coiler cant wait. Ski resort sets season pass sales record, again by BRET ANNE SERBIN Daily Inter Lake | October 7, 2021 1:00 PM Whitefish Mountain Resort set a new record for season pass sales for the upcoming ski season. It’s the sixth year in a row the resort has set a new high mark, according to Nick Polumbus, director of sales and marketing at the ski area. Early season pass sales concluded at the end of September, and Polumbus said the resort has already exceeded last season’s total by 13.5%. Last year, season pass sales eclipsed 12,500 for the first time. An adult pass was priced at $689 for the upcoming winter, a $14 increase over the last two seasons. Polumbus attributed the rising sales of season passes to an increase in the local population as a whole. “We’re getting our share of the population growth,” Polumbus said. “It’s reflective of the growth of the whole valley.” As evidence of that trend, Polumbus said this year’s season passes seem to be evenly distributed across all age groups. There hasn’t been a marked increase in any one category of skier from last year, he said. “It’s very consistent,” he added. “We’re seeing growth across the board.” Polumbus didn’t expect the number of season passes to continue growing substantially in October and November. He said Whitefish Mountain Resort typically sees season pass sales drop off after the price increases on Sept. 30. Pass sales have increased despite changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic over the last two seasons. The lifts shut down three weeks ahead of schedule in March 2019 as the pandemic got underway. The following season, the resort eliminated the singles lift line and required masks while waiting in line. Guests were not required to pair up with individuals or other groups outside of their party. More changes are coming to the resort in the future with the announcement of CEO Dan Graves’ retirement at the end of the season. Graves has served as CEO of Whitefish Mountain Resort since 2007. While this weekend's storm certainly coated the mountain, we still need more snow coverage to safely open. With continued chances of snowfall the next few days coupled with more snowmaking, we're hopeful for this Thursday (with the same terrain around Chair 7 and downloading on Chair 1). Keep an eye on this snow report page as well as our social channels for further updates. We are stoked about 9 inches of new snow on the summit from this weekend’s storm! Our official summit base depth to 25 inches as of Monday afternoon, but lower elevations still need some help. The base at the village is only 5 inches deep. west carven Posted December 11, 2021 Report Share Posted December 11, 2021 snowreport: fri dec 10, 2021 howdy alI missed yesterday's opening day, but today was nicer with blue sky sunshine in the morning then soon gets cloudy and cold. chair 1 was delayed about 20 minutes and opened at 9:49am. with clear nights and colder temps the snow was really nice. still very early conditions and lots of little dips and rollers, we need more snow to fill the runs and smooth things out. lots of little pine tops on the lower sections like little stubbie gates and did a couple runs with dredman and johnasmo… forecast is looking good for this weekend, but I gotta work. powder Monday should be good... first run felt awkward... backside only and download on chair 1... good first day that went better than I thought... rode the amp5 from 10 till 12:15... west carven Posted December 14, 2021 Report Share Posted December 14, 2021 snowreport: mon dec 13, 2021 howdy alI glad I had to work yesterday cause the big did not open due to power outage from a snowplow taking out an electric pole. today a high overcast over the big and vis was good. so yesterday's few inches of untouched pow and last night's good dusting made for a fun day. got there early and got third chair and waited over a half hour. good pow on the edges and groomers were soft and gets bumped up with the high traffic. the backside gets boring fast, but that's all we have for now. did a no name run to chair 5, but it was noontime and all bumped up. was going to download on chair 1 and the liftie says russ street is open so down to no name to russ street to the baselodge… good snow and a fun day... we need a lot more snow to open the front... rode the amp5 from 9:30 till 12:30... west carven Posted December 15, 2021 Report Share Posted December 15, 2021 snowreport: tue dec 14, 2021 howdy alI cloudy grey and wet snowy morning. looked at the webcam and there was a few inches. kinda warm as the weather was coming from the south. the snowbus was 20 minutes late, but I still managed to be kinda up front. good soft pow and groomers on the backside. a bit foggy, but vis was good and a bit chilly. took a break about 11:30am and as I got ready to go out I over heard a employee say big ravine and toni matt was open so did toni matt, but it was already cut up, I was about an hour too late. toni matt was soft and deep with many bush/hazards downlow and it was bumpy with the wet snow. the top half of the front is getting good, but the bottom half needs a lot more snow... fun to just cruise around and work the legs... the top of chair 8 is right in the middle of big ravine and dumps out on toni matt... it will be a cluster... rode the amp5 from 9:30 till 12:30... west carven Posted December 16, 2021 Report Share Posted December 16, 2021 snowreport: wed dec 15, 2021 howdy alI classic big mtn fog and much colder temps with a good dusting over groom made it a fun day. where it has been groomed regularly it is nice, but where it has not been groomed much like lower toni matt it is an uneven wavy/bumpy mess. the little snow we have been getting every day seems to help and things are looking better every day. the snow is still soft and turning hard makes a deep trench and bury the nose. we need more snow and more groomer passes to even things out. still plenty hazards downlow and will wait till the carving boards comes out... colder drier snow... fun day... rode the amp5 from 9:30 till 12:30... Cheers! 10:10 a.m. update: We have low visibility on the upper mountain, good snowfall and light winds today. 6 a.m. update: We've had an amazing week of skiing up here with the front side opening and 25 inches of snow over the past seven days. The snow conditions continue to be top-quality thanks to cool temperatures and cloudy skies. We've had new snow on the upper mountain every day for 10 days in a row now! Big Ravine opened yesterday and limited terrain around Chair 2, including Mully's and Ed's Run, is slated to open this morning. The closed terrain around Chair 2 will be clearly marked with red bamboo and tape. Stay tuned to this snow report and our social media for more terrain opening updates. NOAA is calling for a high of 15 degrees on the upper mountain, with light winds and 2 to 4 inches expected during the day. More snow is forecast tonight with much colder temperatures expected for tomorrow. It's a beautiful day to be on the mountain! Note: Early-season conditions exist across the mountain, especially at lower elevations. Ski and ride with caution! Respect all terrain closures. Do not ski closed terrain. Uphill travel has resumed normal operations. Please refer to our uphill policy page for information and instruction. Alas, the Canadian govt revoked the "Go to the US for less than 3 days, get out of jail free card" today, and the covid return test requirement has gone from 72 hours to 24. west carven Posted December 17, 2021 Report Share Posted December 17, 2021 snowreport: fri dec 17, 2021 howdy alI a beautiful morning with blue skies and very chilly temps. conditions are looking better, but not really when you are on the runs. went down ptarmigan bowl and it was deep pow, but the underneath is still bumpy. there was two injuries just under chair 1 at the bottom of ptarmigan bowl and before the bench. a guy and a girl had to be hauled down, it was not related, but near each other on the second run of the morning. did two runs on ed's run at the end of my day to check out chair 2 and it is not ready. skiers right had natural pow and on both sides there was snow makers with shitty snow. the middle was groomed with a couple cat passes and very uneven, it is not good, it is not ready. tried to make a few turns on lower toni matt under the lift, but it is so bumpy it is not good. yesterday snow really helped, but we need a lot more. maybe the big will groom better with the holiday crowds on the way. today was really tricky snow conditions (understatement)… made a few good turns... rode the amp5 from 9:30 till 12:30...
