End of season blues

Great weekend of riding.  Thought with all the rain this past week conditions would be terrible, luckily not so.  Met another carver on a skwal and Alex up at Stratton on Friday. Optimistic that March will hold, but spring is coming quick!

I just start thinking about my next season. 5 months from now I hope to be carving at Cardrona unless Covid-19 sends those plans to the bin. Off season training can be fun too, a 3 hour mountain bike ride yesterday was both great time in the outdoors and quads training. The hardest bit of my off season is reading what you Northerners are doing while it's full summer here in NZ.

This season doesn't appear to be as good or as long as last season. Last year I rode until May 3rd (some rode longer). My guess is our season will last at least another month.

We may fall into the melt - freeze cycle though and the snow conditions may be sub-optimal.

I go "carving" on my Kawasaki Concours 1400. 0-60 in around 2.5 sec, 10 sec 1/4 mile, 165 hp to the ground.

Not stock 700 lb. shaft drive beast of a twistys carver. Guaranteed to put a smile on my face and an occasional stain in my shorts...

We still have another 35-40 days left here, plus a bit of Whistler afterwards...

Anyways, when all is said and done, I'll intensify on tennis, some slalom/pump skateboarding, and hopefully the stars would align for a Laser dinghy. My convertible Merc gets out of the garage too 🙂

how do you total a coiler?

Took a shortcut from the groomer through the new snow to the lodge. Others had gone through that patch before me, but not my exact route. Hit a rock under the snow. The part in front of the bindings is now at at 25° angle to the rest.

sorry to hear that...  @Aracan
I am hard on my gears and have kill some relative new board the same way...
them no trailer queen...  almost every single of my board have battle scars: warp edges, gauges, scratches....
Price we paid for going off the path of least travel.  Got some of my best experience on snow because of it but non the less it suck..

This season have been challenging for me and the weather sucked in general.  It have both high and low.
Start getting ready for next season 🙂

Crystal has just made the gondola and all dining areas closed until further notice AND all schools are closed for six weeks so, even though the conditions are super up there, I expect lots of out of control straight-line speedsters to be clogging up the runs and my run, which I usually have to myself, will now be clogged up because of the gondola closure. I imagine I will be checking it out on Monday anyway, with grandchildren in tow, but I won't stay if it appears to me that me or my grandkids have a good chance of getting speared.

Our season is always short in the midwest (can't complain - we all make choices on where we live).  Tomorrow is the last day to slide down some loose granular as it's been as high as 60 deg F and hasn't been below freezing for a week.  I do a lot of hiking in the spring and fall, and fortunately have the opportunity to spend summers in Maine where I do a lot of kayaking.  I'm working on "personalizing" a new aluminum kayak trailer this weekend.
