queequeg
I figure this is as good a place as any to ask this question. I am not going to use the tires/wheels that came with my car and need to get rid of them. I have tried selling them but have had no luck (which is crazy because the tires seem brand new and I'm selling for under half of retail WITH the rims). I'm getting tired of just having the tires around and since they're not selling, I'm wondering if there is an organization that I can donate them to and get a tax write off. Has anyone ever done anything like this?
www.oldsnowboards.com
In Portland Oregon there are a number of charities that accept cars, do some restoration work and resell for money to further their cause. Perhaps search on those that take in cars/trucks? What size , brand are they? If you use Craig's list , it really makes allot of difference in how you list items. Make sure the search engines pick up on the main details properly. Example. I am currently looking for some light truck tires. "265 17" is much more effective than "265 75 17" . LT instead of light truck. etc. etc.

Has anyone ever done anything like this? You bought a Subie, right? Those wouldn't happen to be snow tires that you're getting rid of, would they? Shipping to Oregon might kill the deal, but I could use a set of (studless) snow tires for my Outback.
Corey
List them for the same amount you'd get back on your taxes, they'll go fast. Generally, wheels/tires sell for between 25% and 50% of their new prices. If no one is coming, your price is likely too high. More details are better: List bolt pattern (likely 5x100 mm on a Subaru), tire model, tread depth in 32's of an inch, general condition, and pictures. Sorry, can't help with the donation idea... I replaced them with a set of Blizzaks for winter driving since the car will get almost no use in the summer. I may put another set of all seasons on them if I decide I want to use them in the summer, but if I do, they will be a different size. I have them listed on subaruforester.org, but I suppose I should try some of the other subaru sites like nasioc and whatnot. They're already listed at 50% of their new price (for the tires alone), I suppose I could go down to %25. Perhaps I'm just being impatient. I just want them out of my place (my neighbors probably do as well, since they are currently occupying part of the stairwell landing :-P). lowrider
Your in luck selling all season and not snows. Trade for service with your trusted mechanic. Visit a used car lot they love cheep tires to make a car look good! Taxi co. also a good polace to unload tires if they fit their fleet.
