Wow, 1939 boarding!! Cool leather strap rear binding, with wood block boot retention "system". I liked that "steering stick" they were using, although the track they were riding in didn't really need a whole lot of turning control. I wonder what those original boards would be worth today.

Cool vid bOardski! Thanks for sharing.

Neither Jake or Tom has ever said they invented it... they commercialized it in the current timeframe is all...

They knew that hundreds if not thousands of years ago some young person or adult for that matter slid down the snow on some plank...:biggthump

I was stoked to see a 'bunker' from the 1930s in the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum in Vail:

Some other info on the Bunker and Turkish Lazboard:

Way older than old school.

Wow, that's great stuff guys! Love the video of J. Jones and the Turks. Good to see, and know, next time some "2 planker-wanker" starts yapping about skiing tradition and blah...

Wonder how you say fresh pow in Turkish?

Killer boots man.

Wonder if they did any "Half Piping" on those?

I'll assume any "pipe" they did back then would have involved tobacco :D

Well. They were certainly getting a lot of point loading in the area of the front binding. Thing. Block. Whatever.....they should have been working on plate systems to get a livelier flexing board.

Might have given them the edge they needed.

Mick, You probably don't remember me from the Bingham's Crew. If I remember correctly, you were one of the original Winterstik riders back the day with Dimitri. I recall seeing some video of you in the Utah backcountry from around the early 80's. Take care, Tom

Sorry for the thread hi-jack, but yes I do remember you Tom.

I was part of the Winterstick team and worked at the company also. Dimitrije got so tired of seeing me and getting phone calls from me asking about when they would finally start selling boards, that he brought #13 to Binghams to sell to me to 'get him off our backs'. First Winterstick sold to a customer.

Great to hear from you Tom, keep on riding.

Mick
