rjnakata
I'll be teaching a friend this Monday and I want to teach "right." It's been a while since I first learned to snowboard and I'm sure methods have changed since then. What's today's accepted way to teach beginner snowboarding? My student is at the "falling leaf" stage. :o
k2slopesurfer
get them a lesson. you will have more fun. they will have more fun, and likely more success. I am certified, and still don't teach friends.

lowrider
If your friend has never been on a board before find someplace with some snow cover ( not a resort $$$$$) and do some Xcountry snowboarding for a while. Get used to the gear, no preasure enviroment and have some fun just goofing around. When the Falling Leaf doesn't fall so much then head to the hills. That first outing well tell you if heading to the hill's is really a good way to seal or end the friendship.
skatha
Have him take a lesson, please.....not only will the instructor be able to give him the latest training technique, but will know how to properly correct faults with his current technique. Last week, my daughter wanted another lesson. I watched the first few minutes she took with the instructor and what he stressed to her was radically different than what I was told in lessons 10 years ago

rjnakata
Wow, Thanks all for the replies. It was my "duty" to teach that day and with some coaching from you, I had a blast. There is some serious wisdom and expertise here.
