Race Clinic and ECES Race signup

On Friday morning starting at 10AM we will have a race clinic put on by two great racers/coaches. (And possibly some additional world class competitors) meet at the top of the race course on the Suntanner trail right in front of the base lodge.

Immediately following the clinic at 11:15AM to 2PM will be the ECES dual GS FUN race . There will be classes for racers and non-racers. Meet at the top of the race course on the Suntanner trail.

Your Coaches for the race clinic

Glenn Chapman aka Hollywood

* 2011 GS national champion

* 15+ years of Alpine coaching experience with WVBBTS

* Coached with Pete Thorndike, Anton Pogue and Mike Kildevald

* Taught Mike Trapp everything he knows about snowboard racing, well at least until he got to Steamboat!

* T32 Tuning tech

Joe Culgin aka Mr. John Deere!

* 2011 placed 8th place in the Open Class at Nationals

* Competed on and off at the Nor-Am level for 5 years

* Coached alongside Alpine legends, Bill Enos, Anton Pogue, Mike Kildevald at WVBBTS

* Current alpine coach at Loon Mtn. Comp team

* Was the last player to record a penalty in the old Boston Garden, 1995

* T32 VP

If you are an avid racer who wants to drop your times in the course or a free carver who wants to add to your bag of riding tricks I am sure there will be something for everyone in this clinic.

To sign up for the Race Clinic or for the Race please post in this thread include the following information-

Signing up for Clinic

Signing up for Race

Signing up for Both

Racing background- are you a current racer, have raced in the recent past or no racing background.

I am sure everyone will enjoy this event and get a kick out of beating your riding buddy down the course:boxing_sm

This is the highlight of the entire ECES for me so I will be first in line for the clinic.

Alex,

I am curious why the race first then the coaching and not the other way around?

Everyone who is attending should plan on participating in both of these events, the race to see what it is like (they are fun) and the clinic to learn how to ride like a Pro Bull Rider (Mr.JohnDeere).

Hope everyone has fun and learns a lot from these fellas.

This is your once in a life time opportunity to get some hands on coaching from some top level racers in the World Cup circuit. This includes Jaysey-Jay Anderson, Tyler Jewell and Lynn Ott (raced in Nagano, where alpine snowboarding made it's first debut in the Olympics). Given their hetic schedule their attendance is TBD until we get closer to the ECES date.

I'll start please copy and paste to keep the list rolling

I've got nothing against trying it. I'd just hate to wreck other people's fun by throwing an awkward rut in the course.

Dingbat,

You won't wreck the course or anybody's fun. If anything they will be laughing with you when you can't make a gate. It is one thing to be able to ride well. It is a whole other thing to be told where to turn. All in all it is a great learning process and experience and I highly recommend you participate in both parts of the event. You will have a good time.

Also, I doubt that they will set the course so it is too difficult for the different levels of riders who will be attending.

Have a great time and kick Mr.JohnDeere in the nuts for me!

I'm going to try both the race and the clinic, even though my performance in the race will be laughable!

Dingbat... just do it. Everyone else is.
