skategoat
Since the rideboard is not live and doesn't appear to include a Canadian option, I took the liberty of setting up a mailing list for Ontario-based carvers. You can join on this page: http://mailbox.corefusion.net/mailman/listinfo/ontariocarvers The idea is to let everyone know what is going on in terms of events, rides, etc. in Ontario. Sometimes these things just whither due to lack of message traffic, other times, they take off. I thought I'd give it a shot. Don't know about you but I actually prefer mailing lists to web forums. skategoat
Seems my service provider had some technical difficulties. The link is working and the list is up. So far, we have 4, count 'em FOUR members.
pm_wizard
There are now five ..... let the bells ring out and the people rejoice! I'm headed to Osler tonight to hit opening day tomorrow AM, if the web site is right (now why would they mislead us?) it should be a decent start to the season there. gmarsden
Gave up waiting for snow, I am at Sun Peaks for the week. Super Carving conditions, no crowds. - Greg
pm_wizard
I didn't need to learn that Greg.... How's the snow, have they had much yet? I am probably going to be at Lake Louise for a couple of days in early January, but they don't seem to have received much snow. Cheers, John
skategoat
I think there'll be a bunch of us next week at Mt. St. Louis. I'll be there Monday for sure and maybe Wed. and Thurs. John, are you a member at Osler? I hear there are a quite a few carvers there.
pm_wizard
Skategoat, Yeah I'm a member, along with a few more carvers. They are out there, but you don't see a lot of carvers on the hills at any one time. John
gmarsden
Re: Sun Peaks They got a ton of snow and are fully open. It has been warm this week, around zero, it firmed up the powder so the groom lasts all day. - Greg
csquared
I'm on the list. I'm one of the other Osler carvers. Regrettably there are only a few of us. Most of the club members that own alpine set-ups are not full time dedicated alpine riders (most are predominantly skiers or free-riders). John and I are it basically. Linus
seems like the link doesn't work.... or is it just me?

pm_wizard
Back from Osler. Fantastic day, firm groomed corduroy that lasted all day. More snow than I expected, in fact a lot more, looks like the rest of the runs (now open Marshall to S-hill) will be open next week if it doesn't get warm and wet! No one on the hills or the lift! skategoat
This week and next is a great time to ride. People are too busy with Xmas shopping and events to hit the slopes. Plus, with no snow in the city, no one's thinking about skiing or boarding. I'm trying to negotiate my way out of a few engagements to give me more riding time. BTW, my server was down for maintenance this morning. The ISP I'm using is having some UPS issues so the mailing list goes down while they address it. Everything should be 100% by Monday.
