BigDogDave
Good work John,,,glad you are keeping track of the important stuff!! Snow is minimal in southern Montucky too,,,,Targhee opened today with just the shoshone lift on the beginners area running. Although they have received over 80 inches to date this season,,,high winds have stripped it all down,,,snow dance with naked nymphs,,suppose to be the most effective!! johnasmo
Ha ha, that is me is me going for a swim in the yellow sharpie suit (aka toxic Elvis suit). Felt like I made it farther that time, but I guess not. All dried out now and ready to blind people for another season. Less than a week 'til opening and there's only a couple of feet at the summit. Looks like a back-side only opener this year. Went to Fernie yesterday; they've had around 100 inches so far, enough for 30+ settled in most of Lizard bowl. Had fun; might have to go there again next weekend if the sky doesn't open up soon. (Lizard bowl from Bear lift)

west carven
howdy all Reported on 12-01-2011 at 10:56 by Nick* Opening day has been postponed. Unfortunately we just do not have enough snow to open the mountain this weekend as planned. We are watching the weather very closely and fully intend to open the mountain as soon as it is possible, so stay tuned here. Given our current conditions, we feel like we're one good snowstorm away from having a solid enough base depth at the bottom of chair 7 to open that area of the mountain. That is what we are focused on right now. In the meantime, keep an eye on our web cams and keep praying for snow. fudge!!! hey! drink a beer and do the snow dance, NOW!!! johnasmo
Guess it's Fernie again tomorrow. Good thing I bought the "Ski More" card last weekend. Oh well, I'm not too broke up about it; more powder runs for us hikers. Snow's almost two feet deep up there, wussies. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qfvyNviVCsM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Allee
Hmmm, saw on the newsletter today they've delayed your opening. Boo hiss. Good to hear Fernie's in decent shape already ... might be worth the drive down there over Xmas. Off to Sunshine this weekend to see how much I've forgotten in the off season. Hanging out until I see youse guys in Jan.
Cuban Carving Gooding
Looks like you can open to me. You have more snow than Ohio.
johnasmo
Went to Fernie Saturday. Not deep, but 100% of lifts were running, and most terrain was open. Might have to do it again next weekend. The Big is still on hold waiting for weather, but Sunday was sunny. Tons of people were hiking it, but Big Face still had good untracked lines. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rHCkNixEqzI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
slopetool
Have you guys set any dates yet for WTF? I want to try my best to make it up there for the event. Same month as last year? Have fun on opening day this weekend. Snowbowl has a thin base as well. I'm going to go make a few runs tomorrow. Hope to see you in a few months up at your stomping grounds. kinpa
Ed, here is Shred's other thread... http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=35557 January 20-27 I'll be going up at least a portion of that. I've been riding with those guys for years. Always have a good time. Have you ever made it to Lookout? I've got 3 days on snow already, the entire mountain is open and not bad coverage. Do you get days during the week at all? Booomer's Fridays for discounted tickets for age 40 and over! This year, I qualify.... hahahahahahaa (but I have a pass since I teach there!) 101 miles from the Reserve Street exit (Lookout is exit 0 on the interstate!) and well worth the drive!!!! west carven
howdy all nice and quiet opening day cause i got a late start after last night christmas stroll, you know free wine and stuff. very limited runs open, three runs on the backside, chair 3 and chair6 and very thin coverage all around. runs were manmade snow groomed down, the cool temps kept it dry and was pretty good for carving. people were coming and going all day so it wasnt too crowded. not the best opening day, but not bad for how little snow we have. rode strong for first day. rode my fp157 from 12pm till 3pm... west carven
howdy all well at least it was a bluebird day, but still chilly. last night snowed alittle here in town and on the top of the big there was four inches of new snow. chair 6 has the best carving snow so i stayed there most of the day, it was icy firm groomed nice and flat with no bumps, i know chair 6, but hey thats all we got. the mountain needs 4 to 5 feet of snow and forcast is more dry and no new snow. rode my fp157 from 10 till 3...
