Bullwings Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Went up on 11/28 (Sunday). I saw Terry, Mike, and Jenny up there. Epic carving conditions all day - minimal crowds (no lines at both express lifts). Temperatures stayed below 28F the entire time there. So long as this low pressure system with dry air and cold temps stays in effect, the conditions should last (no melting/freeze thaw cycling of the slopes). I should be up there again this coming sunday 12/5. The only bad thing about the day was the drive (cal trans slacking on throwing embers/rock chips down - not enough car traffic for them to justify the expense) - it was pretty much black ice/snow from 4300ft. (before running springs) all the way up to the mountain. The other bad thing, was my out of shape legs - i only lasted until 11:30... hahaha Quote
AaronG Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Conditions were even better on monday according to mike. iIt was incredible conditions and not a soul around. I plan on being there sunday but there is a weather system moving in. Snow level is projected at 7000 ft. : ( Quote
surfnsnow Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 I haven't been out of town, so don't let the title line fool you. It's just good to finally have the season back and to see posts from all of you again! Who will be where in Big Bear this weekend? My boards (and Lorrie's skis) are finally tuned, waxed and ready to go. Quote
swissracer Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Rode today with my wife, Luca, Mary and Roiburto. Was pretty icy and a little rough but got better as the day went on...until it got a little soft and torn up. Almost spring like conditions. Base has definetly melted some and there were some brown patches starting to make their way to the surface (along the edges). Let's all do the snow dance together:rolleyes: Thanks to Luca for letting me try his Kessler and UPZ boots! Very nice ride. Too bad nobody was filming the boot liner exchange...pure comedy. Quote
