ExcelsiorTheFathead
I just talked to The Chad on the phone, and it sounds like I should be able to get something made to my Hello Kitty specs. I'll likely pull the trigger on one soon. Algunderfoot Al bought a standard The Edge skwal recently, and he posted pictures of it on the Board Porn thread. I asked him about it and he said that fit and finish were very good.

*Ace*
Such a great board, someone grab that quick! Does anyone happen to know where in Canada that the Thias brand boards were produced?

tufty
Nah, not crazy, but keep it to when you're out with the wife. Monoskis, to paraphrase a guy I used to work with*, are like mopeds - great fun, but you wouldn't want your mates to see you going around with one. * He was talking about fat girls. He was a teeny bit sexist.
monodude
Mono's are current with new technology, fall line/bump, all mountain, carving, powder,etc... Easy to learn and capable of riding anywhere, any steep, any deep, trees, deep carving... Ask anyone that has ridden with me while I'm on a Mono, it's not the baggy onesy, hip wigglin' thing any more. A good rider on a good Mono is a beautiful thing. I'm currently satisfying my Mono carving needs on a 183 UFC Virus with a Donek AF plate inserted to accept Bomber Skiboard bindings to ride it Mono style. Besides all of the arguments pro/con... "Dare to be different" really applies to the Mono. Don Feed the addiction...

mikel45
Does anyone happen to know where in Canada that the Thias brand boards were produced? Don't quote me but I suspect Quebec-based Surf Politix - can't say for sure if they are still in business. mikel45
. . . I suspect Quebec-based Surf Politix . . . Besides Thias, they also OEM'd the Sims snowboard and Lacroix skwal
mikel45
Some of us prefer Cateks for skwal riding, here is a local listing - they look like "longs" - best to double-check with seller.
BlueB
Monoskis, to paraphrase a guy I used to work with*, are like mopeds - great fun, but you wouldn't want your mates to see you going around with one. What's wrong with a mono? It is essentially an alpine snowboard with parallel stance... And can be both at the same time too ;)

mikel45
CODA skwal arrived Monday and rode it on Wednesday - here is my review. It arrive well protected with a few extras included in the packaging, e.g. decals, bottle opener and even a safety strap. Regarding build quality, there are a few top-sheet imperfections on both the tip and tail as in not enough care taken during edge routering. One of the inserts arrived non-functional. There is no indication on the skwal where the center of the effective edge is located - problematic for those whom ordered a different hole pattern. Unfortunately my board number (a nice security feature) was not included because of bad graphic placement. Regarding ride performance, the board has a softer flex, easy to put on edge, wanders side-to-side at higher speed, overall, a fun ride and good conversation starter. Happy to answer any questions? mikel45
Do you have pics? Did you go custom or it is retail board? I bet it is too soft for 90+kg :) Here are a couple . . . apologize for the quality . . . doesn't do the board justice. I went with stock board & graphics. The stock board is actually built for this/your/my weight range. Sidenotes: 1) the graphic selection is actually for the CODA monoboard shape so when it comes to sizing graphics to the skwal there will be distortion, e.g. see CODA logo on left split-tail above. I wouldn't try to design and submit your own custom graphics for topsheet especially if it's quite complicated around the split-tail - best to keep the graphics simple whether you select stock design or submit your own design. 2) Discuss beforehand the stock hole pattern.
