Eric
The new quad will be welcome, but I wonder if it will be another "weather permitting" lift, or worse.... weekends only. Hopefully they will always have it fired up--you can hit a lot of the upper terrain if Cascade is closed.
P06781
Way to go Eric, good post ! Did you hike up to the lift ? Arent you working right now, better get back to slinging drugs....legally that is (Rph) Jim :D
slopetool
Hi Eric and Jim - All good things come to an end. This terrain used to be a great place to get away from everyone. Its going to be great on a powder day to access those little canyons and gullies that used to be tougher to get to. You guys know this area too, I'm sure. I'm really happy to see that the new starting time with most chairs opening later at 8:30. That bottleneck getting to Shooting Star at 9 used to be crazy. looking forward to riding with you guys in a couple months Ed
Mike T
I too have very mixed feelinsg about the new lift.... for the same reasons Ed mentioned. But there should be some nice wide groomies over there now!
jason_watkins
I mean, let's face it... we all just wish meadows would save their $$ for a lift going straight up heather :D I hope the new lift pulls away some of the sideways skidders from cascade. Mike T
I doubt money is what's holding up a lift straight up Heather. I believe it's more of a political / legislative thing. There are those who will fight ski area expansion and construction every step of the way. We can hope... of course, I might be living in Bend and riding at Bachelor in a year... jason_watkins
yeah, I remember reading their future plans document off the forest service site at some point. They have plans submitted for a bunch of lifts, including a heather lift... but they seemed to be focusing on the new destination resort they want to build around toward hood river.
