tobrien8 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 So I just bought my first alpine board from the BOL classifieds and I'm looking for some help setting up the bindings. The board is a standard 175 RC and I bought a pair of burton race plates to put on it. Please don't harass me on binding choice as I have already read the other threads dedicated to it. They were cheap and I'm in college so that was important. I read the article on binding setup already. I'm not entirely sure where my stance width should fall but I am 5'9 with a 30" inseam. I plan on riding the lowest angles possible with no boot drag to start but I'm more interested in where bindings should be located from front to back on the board. Any help or input from someone who has experience with this board would be greatly appreciated. If it matters I do have about 10-15 days on hardboots last year on an old sims 161 FC. Not really sure what FC stands for but that's what it said on the board. I was able to lay down some decent carves as soon as I stepped on the thing and was hooked after the first 2 runs. Quote
SEJ Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 I've got a 180 RC and LOVE it! I would start in the center of the insert packs and then adjust from there. FC = free carve RC = race carve (half way between free carve and race) Quote
Neil Gendzwill Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Probably centred on the inserts, that's the way I ride my Coiler AM. I don't think Bruce would be so perverse as to set his inserts up any other way. Quote
Gecko Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 I have an 175RC, though I am taller than you, I am on the widest insert stance which is 19.5" plus I have them wider on the disks so my actual stance is 20.25". Angles will be dictated by your bootsize last year I was at 57º front and 51º rear very comfortable and no drag for my M28 boots though I was also offset front to rear for the record I use nearly the same stance for all my board sports and the balls of the foot location is within 1/4" on every board Quote
inkaholic Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 You may try riding it where the previous owner had his/her bindings set up and make adjustments from there. Ink Quote
Hans Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Most Coilers like to be ridden totally centered to somethings a little to the back. Just try and error what you like. First try centered and ride the board a few days. You first have to adapt to the board before you change settings. Just my 2 cents. Quote
