Mats
Hi there fellow carvers. Just want to tip you about the World Snowboard Day on the 20th of december. A day to higlight snowboarding as a great sport. We are arranging a swedish session in Bydalen. The resort will give away free daypasses to everyone with snowboardsboots on there feet. (and hardboots;-) check out the page here. http://www.world-snowboard-day.com/program.aspx?id=56 WSF, Eurosima and almost all of the snowboardmedia is supporting the event. I think it´s a great opportunity to show the kids the whole picture of snowboarding - freeriding, powderriding, carving. To show the diversity of the sport we will have an exhibition of old and new boards. Powguns, 197 Super G boards, asymetrics, Noboard etc etc. In the US it´s held in Park City, Buffalo, Granite Peak Parks, Mount Snow, Hunter, Thunder Ridge, so there is a lot of space for you guys to bring on your WSD event. ursle
I find it feasible to be at MT Snow that day, especially if it's free thanks
pokkis
Mats this is not for you due i know that you have not selected day ;) Who and why someone has picked such silly day for WSD? I mean that such early date is tough to many resorts with global warming making winters starting later and later. Plus that is also peak of Christmas shoping weekend so slopes are usually quite empty having only hc-riders around. But that is nice weekend for carving due above reason caause there is plenty of space on those resorts who have slope open
Mats
I don´t know about Mount Snow. It´s in Bydalen Sweden it´s free skipass. A long ride for a free pass ;-)
scrapster
If hills are offering free passes--that's probably why they chose a relatively low traffic day Just my cynical take on things.
Mats
So here´s the deal. Snowboarding needs exposure. When I heard about the WSD I thought "what a great idea," Let´s do it. It got NOTHING to do with resorts. In Sweden it´s me and Jonas Hagström who organises everything. Bydalen has always been in the front of snowboarding. Early with a park and some very good alpine riders come from there. Ulf Mård and Marie Birkl if anyone rembers them. Anyways Bydalen was very gratious and offered a free daypass. It´s a small privately owned resort. ****ing great. So come out an ride and show the skiers that we have more fun with one board then two planks. Carve low!
