funcarving Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 SORRY BUT I'M KEEPING THEM FOR ANOTHER SEASON. I can use them for snowkiting. I'll put them back up for sale this time next year. Thanks for the inquiry's. I would cancel this add if I knew how. Quote
skidad62 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Bump for a fellow NB'er! Steve here from Moncton - haven't been to Poley in quite a while... too bad to hear you're leaving the carving scene! Cheers Quote
funcarving Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 Bump for a fellow NB'er!Steve here from Moncton - haven't been to Poley in quite a while... too bad to hear you're leaving the carving scene! Cheers I did alpine boarding for about 8yrs and it was a blast! These bindings are the last piece of snow boarding equipment to go. But it makes a lot of sense for me to switch from snow boarding to snow kiting. Snow kiting is a good complement to kiteboarding as I can use the same kites, no lift tickets and a fraction of the drive, can use the same boots, clothing. Snow kiting offers some similar thrills so the shift has been relatively easy :) You do need wind but in the winter that's usually not problem. (knock on wood) :) Quote

skidad62 Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 hi what size boot does the short plate fit. i have thirteen feet will they work for my boots thank you:sleep: ahhhh... no. Short plates are only good under size 10 and under 180 lbs. You need long plates big time. Quote
jp1 Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 beetle3, Catek recommends the short plates for sizes under 10 and riders under 180 lbs. Quote
dragonrider Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 I wonder what happen if rider over 180 lbs on shortplate. 185 lbs rider ?my boot is 9.5 fit the short plate perfect but i am over the weight that they recomended. any comment or suggestion. thank Quote
jp1 Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Off of Catek's website: The Short Plate is ideal for smaller boot sizes (<10US) and lighter (<180lbs) riders. The 3/8" thickness provides a more forgiving ride than the long plate. The Long Plate accepts all boot sizes (up to 31.5MP, depending on the boot), and its 1/2" thickness provides the most powerful ride on the market. Riders weighing more than 180lbs or with a boot size greater than 10US must use the long plate. To each their own, companys make these recommendations for a reason. Personaly if I were in your position it would not concern me at all, but that is only 'my' opinion. Quote
funcarving Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 Thanks for helping out. I've updated the add so folks can easier determine size suitability. I should've bought long plates in hindsight :) Quote

You're 5lbs over the recommended weight. If you were racing for a living it might matter a lot but I bet you could get by with these bindings for regular carving :) Quote
