Dave Winters
My pet peeve: People stopping to rest, gape, whatever, in the middle of a run! Get the hell over to the side!! There's a rule in the Code: "You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above." This just isn't clear enough. Seems common sense to me, but... that's my rant.... Surf Quebec
I definitively agree with you, when stopping please go on the side of the trail. Usually its teenagers in soft boots hanging together in the middle but the other day there was this skier in mid forties stopped in the middle and talking on his cellphone ... tex1230
isn't that implied in the "where you obstruct a trail" part?
ursle
Hmmm No skidos are allowed on ski trails unless they are being used for emergency purposes
queequeg
I agree ... people who stand around in the middle of the trail irritate the hell out of me. I thought this was allready part of the code but maybe it is just considered good conduct by those in the know.
Dave Winters
I guess my point is that the code just isn't clear enough. It's obviously not enough to imply the "obstructing trails" thing. Maybe it should read something like "refrain from congregating as a group in the middle of runs to discuss lunch plans" Or, more seriously, "when stopping on a trail or run, do so off to one side"... KingCrimson
Dave- Steamboat was a breeze in that regard! You're welcome to come down here and experience some REAL congregating! Did have some bad experiences with seated skiers on the cat tracks on the way back down to the base...can anyone say roadblock? PS- Sorry we never hooked up. I had no idea what a family function that trip ended up being.
Loc
This one time I was riding up the lift and I saw this couple having a lovers' quarrel in the middle of the run. Can you believe that? Sheesh, how rude!
Dave Winters
King- I feel your pain on the family issue. Look me up next time...
Chris Houghton
Around here they're called golons or meat gates, something to crank a nice heelside around.
