Boyaryn
<!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I live in Tehachapi (about 2.5 hours north of LA) and am in need of a good tuning shop for my Donek FC II. I need some edge and base work done (hit some rocks over the weekend). Any suggestions? I'm relying on you guys. Thanks in advance.
Arclite
Me and my dad do our own tuning. Its not too expensive, look around on ebay and online shops. Get some Toko wax, and iron, scraper, and sharpening stones.
KingCrimson
Base damage can't be fixed with a file and some wax! I'm actually curious about shops down here as well, the Coiler took a beating on Sunday. I'm in the mindset that living down here and not having a pile of boards necessitates having a Ptex Gun. I asked for one for Christmas...Guess that fell through. Boyaryn
Do you know whether Mammoth has a good shop, like Footloose sports? I got a custom made insole done there and they know their work but never a tuning on a trench digger. Otherwise it's to Donek which is going to be an expensive tune-up. surfnsnow
I bought some custom liners from Footloose this year and have never been happier. But they specialize in boots and boot accessories only. You might try Wave Rave in Mammoth. I don't know if they do repairs, but if anyone does - they would be my first guess. gdboytyler
If you get around Manhatten Beach, I'd recommend http://www.fluidskisurf.com/location.asp I've had a couple of my boards worked on there, including a custom Donek FCII. I talked to the guy that does the work and he at least knows what an alpine board is. They do competent work and didn't take off too much edge or base. skipatroll
Try going to Bear Mt and ask for the manager. They have a great snowboard grinder for base grinding and wicked tuning. They are the only shop that has that equipment (The Green Machine)
