www.oldsnowboards.com
how about just forget making snowboards altogether... just make a plate that mounts to two skis... I like the sound of "Snowboard" vs "Skis". Even though I love both very much. I believe the definition of snowboard would still cover it. History is pretty cool isn't it. Circle complete. KingCrimson
Having the ability to flip the boards to change SCR would be cool. You do know that if you build this, Kildy's Tinkler senses will...tingle and he will be back over here and there will be another tinkling match. Personally I'd avoid making a Snurfer! ;) Edit: As a result of Bryan's cautioning and finger shaking below, I have been cautioned and shamed. You see, the joke was a long play on words involving Spiderman and Urine references. Caution.

www.oldsnowboards.com
Is there patent about that yet? In some form I am certain. Probably not for the intent I mentioned.
KingCrimson
Bryan, since this is semi related and you're sort of the PR guy for Tinkler, why doesn't Mike Tinkler use an aluminum plate like Kildy's in these pictures?
Fastskiguy
You've heard of a "split tail", how about a "split nose and tail". Split middle too. Can soften the board(s) but keep'em torsionally rigider.

www.oldsnowboards.com
late 1980'sEuro guy came to Buttermilk with this design and said it would replace the then current snowboard...he was there a couple of months and it rode well on the greens at slow speeds only...no way on tiehack! He did teach some tourist to eat their lunch on it!!! Just the early Burton airs put this design in the closet... As for splits I remember running one board tip an tail on my unisaw with a kerf blade to the back binding and the front binding and then taking one run and realizing that I wrecked the board... They were quite popular in Europe, complete with race leagues!!! Funny story , Thanks Softbootsailer. Helps if the board is made to split. Most would be too soft to do this to.
www.oldsnowboards.com
Show them the Snowster so they can take a real mans beating :D Your wish is my command. I will even throw in the "Skeeter", the earlier name for the "Snowster". You have got to believe the range of conditions the Skeeter would work well in is rather narrow. The "Rails" on the shovel blades would make riding this tricky to say the least. PS, never seen the orange and blue model, may never have been built in that color way. I have however seen a Snowster with bright PINK shovels (normally black)
