Furthest south is santa barbera and that's only because they have a hair salon they won't give up. when we lived in long beach and worked in huntington and newport in the college days, the red onion on pch was a great hangout. So funny how meeting chix was so different than back home at UMass/Amherst. A bunch of really funny, smart college dudes couldn't score shizzle with our tremendous wit and lack of a decent car. Like anywhere, there's cool people to meet. I'd start with the aforementioned BOL'rs above. Cracks me up when I watch Californication. I used to think socal was soooo cool when I was 14.It had a much different vibe for me at 20 and it's gotten way worse over the last 20 years. Last time I was there I woke up from an early morning nap in the parking lot at 8 a.m. Stepping out of my car, an "accented" (Russian?) guy asks me if I want to buy a lift ticket. He'll "make deal" for me, he says. I asked how much (I think window price was $57 for a Sunday a few years ago) and he says $50. I was so annoyed that I snapped out of my sleepy state and, noticing that he had a huge stack to scalp yet, I said "$20 or I go inside and get management to run you out of here." Never been to MA. I don't think I'll add to my to do list. Reviews of MA "F*CK MASSACHUSETTS...again! I left that wretched hell hole 7 months ago now for California; let me tell you I'll NEVER look back. California may be more expensive (and it is), but I'm PERFECTLY happy to pay the price to live in a place where everyone isn't completely miserable. I mean, I moved out here and thought "Wow, people actually smile here! Much as I used to remember people doing as a child." Yeah, that's right, people don't swear at you in traffic, the government isn't out to screw you, the state doesn't shake every last dime out of your pockets, and oh, the weather is actually worthy of being called "weather". California definitely has douchebags, don't get me wrong, but at least you can ignore them here since they don't make up 99% of the population. When I heard that they passed that ridiculous health care law right after I left...I laughed...and when they had that cutesie little sting operation on single parents...I laughed.
