pgetchell
hi, i have hardboots and binding, and have tried a prior WCR and an old volkl SL - fun, but angles too extreme for my old knees. hoping to find a fun, inexpensive board to improve my carving skills, without cranking my knees. anyone got something appropriate for a 5'7" 175lb dood? again, have boots and bindings, just want affordable board, delivered to maine or boston. - Phil in Boston. cfj04
Do you use Burton Bindings? I have a board you may like if you have a 3 hole binding option
pgetchell
hi, the 4x4 sounds nice, but probably too rich for me right now. BTW, what kind of angles can be had on that - looks like 20.5cm waist? not many ATV's around, wonder if i'd rather something wider, like that? i have Raichle binding - 4-hole. thanks. - phil
snowghost
To pgetchell: Been riding plates for twenty years with bad knees, including teaching at Vail and training/coaching at Hood. redriver
Phil - For low cost and easy flex- you might consider the Burton e-decks up for grabs on ebay now, or from the-house.com. Cheap and wide.
wallstrum
Phil - the other thing you could try is a tanker. i rode a 192 a couple of weeks ago, and was railing carves on it. here is one for sale in the classifieds now: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=20736<http: www.bomberonline.com="" vbulletin="" showthread.php?t="20736">. if i remember correctly, that year's tankers are wider than years past, so it should work well in terms of your requirement for low angles... good luck! wally</http:>
Furi
+1 to Wally suggestions. The tankers would be a good idea. The flex is nice and mellow but it can still hold an edge and is a fun board to ride. Tanker also handle plates well and its a good overall board that is a blast to ride. The boards ending in "7" (167, 177, 187) are the wide model boards with the larger waist width usually in the 27 range. The 192 Wally was talking about was sort-of special for Rad-Air - it was a narrow 24 waist width board. Sadly they no longer make that waist width or the 192 size. Mike T
They may no longer make them, but Hardbooter.com has at least one 192 for sale: http://www.hardbooter.com/product_p/04-fslash-05_radair_tanker.htm
gdboytyler
I've got a Radair Tanker 172 that I'll sell for $200 + shipping. I believe the waist is 25cm. If you're interested, I'll measure the waist and take the some photos.
