Gtanner
Hi Folks, I just got off the mountain today and it was cold but snowing all day. My Coiler AM kicked ass cutting through the chopped up crud. I found that when I had both boots in "walk" mode, I had more flexibility and more maneuverability. I was just wondering if anyone else riding UPZ boots are riding in "walk" mode? If so, I'm curious if anyone has figured out a way to protect the clip (I worry about snapping it off with my RSV superlights). Comments? -Gord
AK in PA
I've done that unitentionally once or twice, when I've forgotten to snap them in from walk mode. If your heel edge washed out, I think it's a fair bet they'd snap off.

Gtanner
Thanks for the responses guys, I wasn't 100% sure and wanted to check with you folks prior to my doing it for more than a run or two. I'l loosen the springs, thanks. -Gord
bobdea
DON'T DO IT!!! Seriously, it will deform the shells of your boot. I was doing a drill with walk mode, and the boots are not meant to be ridden as such. The upper part of the shell overlapped with the bottom part and ot stuck. I had to pry it back into place, nearly causing the plastic to buckle and break. this applies to all the boots I've owned and that covers just about anything you can buy these days other than head. seriously, bad idea, each boot there is a reason why it's bad and I don't need to get into it here. It's called walk mode for a reason.
Gleb
I would do it occasionally for 1 run and it helps hold an edge in questionable conditions for some reason.
NateW
I keep mine in ride mode, but for the last two days of riding I left the top buckle undone. Now I'm thinking about drilling the rivets and totally removing the top buckle from each boot. I want to do some more A/B testing first though.
