jolson
Who can tell me what hardboot brand or make is best for those of us with wide feet. Have picked up used Raichle 28.5 which is perfect in length but squeezes width in a BIG way. Any help here or has anyone actually succeeded in having boots punched out? jolson
Thanks, good to know someone has had success in altering boots. Still looking for any info on brands better fitted to wide body feet.
Fastskiguy
I had some major stretching done to my shells then these http://www.bomberonline.com/store/accessories/hpd_liner.cfm put in right at the Bomber store and I've got the most comfy boots I've ever had....in 33 years of skiing! RDY_2_Carve
Heads were much wider for me than Raichles. I hear UPZ are wider too but I haven't tried those.
Marker
I switched from AF600 boots to Head Stratos Pro because Head had a much wider toebox and fit my feet better overall - I wear Mondo 30.
jolson
Man, this blog really churns out quick response. I have been drilling down in to past references and it looks like from numerous postings that Head is the way to go.
D.T.
it looks like from numerous postings that Head is the way to go Agreed. Head is my choice for my wide feet. A talented boot fitter will be able to stretch the Raichle's though.
Sinecure
I say you need to get some Head.

willywhit
From the last reply ... I will take that advice and cautiously solicit for Head..Boots...28 to 28.5 lotsa riders here running head stratos. Just want to make sure about the TRUE size. I run 10.5 street shoes and about the same for boots 28.5 but 29s can work, depending on the brand. curious about what the translation is for Heads. do they run a little small (er, big for the mondo size , that is) ie:are heads in a 28 mondo more like a 10.5 foot or will a 29 mondo in a head feel like a size bigger, closer to a 12 ? Once I get my ghetto peterson footbeds in the 29's and dial 'em in will they feel a little swimmy ? So psyched to get some techER boots but fear that 29s might be a tad big. Help a brutha out here. heads coefficient to real sizing is ??? Drop down a half size, full size ?? Thanks, guys....

Dr D
I gave up on my af700's after punching them the 3rd time. the plastic is to soft or something and they go right back to the original form within a couple of weeks. Head stratos pro's worked great for me even with the stock liners.
RJ-PS
Both heads and UPZs have worked for me.
surfinsmiley
........ Head had a much wider toebox and fit my feet better overall - I wear Mondo 30. Same boat. My feet measures 29.7mm and 29.2. I could not even get my feet into the next size smaller boot and believe me, I tried!
dingbat
I had a similar experience. My feet measure 26.5 / 26.8 but the smallest size I could get my foot into is a 27.0. Once in, they feel a little roomy in the heel and shin, but I think that's more to do with my foot having very low volume ankle.
willywhit
so, if I'm reading the last 2 posts correctly....Heads run a little small ie: a 29 mondo head strato might be closer to a true size 28 and some change, yes ? almost a true size 28.5 - I guess I won't know until I actually ride them. Minor tweaking is OK, I just wanna be in the ballpark sizewise. I could use a liiittle more input here, tho.
