carvedog
Looks like a pretty normal snowboard, so that puts the bladders at about $1,600. Pretty good price for a couple of tiny inner tubes. Dudes, go for it and Mash it up real good.

queequeg
Seems like it would provide a very forgiving ride, particularly on choppy snow, but I think it would probably be a crippling disadvantage to anyone but an utter beginner ... I can't see how such a (sloppy) boot/board interface wouldn't totally interfere with your ability to center yourself fore/aft of center in any meaningful way. Randy T.
What happens when you land a jump and pop your bladder!
Dr D
the basic concept isn't bad really. I don't think he's using the board well enough to pull it off for a performance board though. He's not using enough of the board to get the best flex pattern. I could see changing the shape of the bladder and the top plate and using a really stiff bladder to approximate a cross between a tinkler and a hangle plate with a little extra dampness. maybe I think am I talking out of my ass here:lol:   ???? Dr D
I assume the bladders are fairly solid like the airrides on a truck????? weight specific though
Jrobb
On the site if you watch the annoying flash graphics at the top right, the guy in the red jumpsuit looks like he's wearing HB's. ALmost look likt some Orange Stratos Pros. From days of yore. I like their statement that the Human body can't sense and react in realtime. Besides that, a 151? What kid has that kind of grip to throw down for that tiny twig. J

ALmost look likt some Orange Stratos Pros. From days of yore. hard boots on a swallowtail. None of the boarders or skiiers in the flash pics are riding the mash board though. in fact there are NO pictures of a person riding mash boards anywhere, from my fairly extensive search (included the myspace page)
Jrobb
I don't know guys, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them - they have some pretty rocking testimonials: http://www.mashsnowboards.com/testimonials.asp that's great. Not a thing about their board. But they have a good web marketing fanclub I see...The flash graphic don't even have a Mash board. And what's the guy on skis there for? A+ for effort guys.. On a slightly related note, anyone get the recent REI catalogues? Stirkes me as funny how REI had most of the snowboarding pics with riders on Rome boards yet the page advertising the boards was chock full of Burton gear. Funny because the guys who started Rome were ex Burton R&D and Marketing guys from a few years back. Dunno, just struck me as odd. J
Sinecure
Wow, what a pathetic web site. "Costumer care, service, and satisfaction is are highest priorities." (sic) That is sum vary high typo density for one sentence. And the thing looks like a marshmallow. It would be interesting to see what happens if you fill it to desired pressure at sea level then drive to the hill. Or, fly with it (planes are pressurized to the equivalent of ~8,000ft). pebu
I'm with D on this one. The concept seems fairly sound to me, basically minimizing the pressure on the board down to (near) one point load so there is nothing to affect the flex pattern. That said, I don't see how it can manage the forward/backward forces required for boarding. That and it's gotta be heavier than sin.
Pow
That and it's gotta be heavier than sin. not so according to the long list of features and benefits... "light as air" Take that Burton Vapor!
Bordy
Great concept, Binding board seperation! Heavy, Have discussed using air with lots of friends in the past.
Mike T
Great concept, Binding board seperation! Heavy, Have discussed using air with lots of friends in the past. Now if only it were built with something more sturdy.... for $2000 it seems like you should be able to build a hyrdaulic system!
