Scuff
Date:12-4-07, Temp: ? - Cold and windy, Vis: Not so good - overcast and snowmaking in progress. Conditions: Excellent (Best run was skiers-left and under of the Chair.) Carvers: 2 I met up with Greg mid-morning and we made some turns. Today happened to be a "womens ski-demo" day, but even so, there was not a whole lot of traffic on the hill. Snow wasn't as fast as Sunday, but but was holding a carve incredibly well. Was really having great fun... Then I crashed. I sorta remember catching my heel edge and falling backwards - hitting my head. There was a loud "static" noise in my ears when I sat up, but only lasted a short while. Must have somehow made it to the bottom on my own "autopilot mode" and I have only vague memories of talking with/being looked over in the chalet by a ski patroler.. dunno..it's all kinda dream-like. No clue what I said or what he said to me - next remember sitting/resting in the snow outside the lodge, when Greg walked up. We talked, but I can't recall a word of what was said - guess I was able to appear coherent, and still be really out-of-it. Walked around a bit, trying to fill in the gaps, recounting the event. Called Mrs Scuff to escort me home and have been fine since. Small headache, and really sore shoulder. Going to be taking it a bit easier for a while.. and look for a new helmet. Ride Safe Everybody! trent
been there karl! sounds like a concussion. at least that's how my concussions have been. glad you were wise enough to get help home. glad you're ok now. watch out for the headache you might have tomorrow morning! -trent
Scuff
Bobble: so maybe THAT'S why my only memory of that ski-patroller was of his giant head!! (He musta been up close checkin my eyes.) Eyes are normal - Jess has also kept an eye on my eyes. Trent:Thanks for commiserating.. I'll bet this crash would have been "Sagget worthy." Headache, Oh no...I've got some 600mg I-B-Profin. Hope that will work. Thinking about dissecting the helmet to see if any evidence of compression exists. Just heat-molded my new stormtrooper boots. Sooooo comfy.. powell1.8
So, I leave Karl up at the top talking to a racing instructor of some sort. He was trying to get permission to run the course. I then waited at the bottom and no Karl. I rode up the lift, no Karl. I ride up again, still not seeing Karl. I get to the bottom and see Karl laying in the snow. He tells me he crashed, hit his head, and had himself checked out and was told he was fine. We talked a bit, trying to figure out what had happened, how he had crashed, ect... I was kind of watching him to see if he really was O.K. Seemed with it enough, except he really could not remmember his crash. I waited until he decided he was ready to go. I felt a little strange leaving you there Karl, but I would think that the Ski Patrollers would have kept an eye on ya if they felt you had a concussion, what do I know. You were talking about not being able to remember your crash, but other than that you seemed O.K. In hindsight, I think I would have liked to have made sure you were definately O.K. before I left. I glad to hear you made it home safe.

bobble
Thinking about dissecting the helmet to see if any evidence of compression exists. just keep it as a beater-helmet. are you going to buy a white helmet to match your storm trooper boots? Speedzilla
Bummer Karl, probably a good thing you got some help getting home. This weekend is going to be crazy with a huge CUSSA ski race. I'm thinking I'll be out for the first time on Monday morning. I've got a DR appointment in the afternoon, so I must need to take the whole day off. ;)

Thanks for keep me talking. :) are you going to buy a white helmet to match your storm trooper boots? Oh boy - I dunno.. There's just so many helmet options to choose from. powell1.8
How about one of these in white. Then all you'll need is a white one piece and you'll be set.
powell1.8
This summer I worked on a guy's car that had a full stormtrooper suit in the back seat. It was fitted to the guy and everything. He paid like a grand for the thing. The guy seemed normal enough, but I had to wonder what he really did with it.

I took a friend out and gave him some pointers and took off. He was a good athlete and I knew he would pick it up pretty quick. I saw him from the lift later that day and he was doing great, really looking confident. Unfortunatly he took a bad fall and his wife later informed me that he did not recall where he had been upon arriving home. Glad he made it home, and I kinda wonder what he says if people ask him if he has ever been snowboarding. I rode buck on Monday morning. It was great! I had a Buck Hill Cheeseburger which was quite delicious as expected. Around 5pm that day I became violently ill and my body purged itself of all waste. I'm still feeling a bit weak. I hope it wasn't the BuckBurger cause I love those things. I had some Prime Rib the night before and it was quite bloody but it was at a 'finer' restaurant. Who knows. I'm gonna try and ride again next monday.

Ooohhhhh you guys missed it.........:D I was in the office getting my coupon for turning in my pass early and there was an elderly couple ahead of me. As I was exiting the office I was running down the big stairs in front, just got around the couple that was ahead of me in the office.... Hit the flat off the stairs and my legs could not handle the force from being so tired and I TOTALLY ate it, my legs just gave away and I went sliding.... The elderly couple was nice enough to ask if I was ok....:o Just figured I would share in my fun.

Corduroy Artisan
Rode the cheap ticket today. Arrived at the hill about 10:30 and wished I'd gotten there first thing. Beautiful Corduroy, Blue Sky, Sunshine:D Enough said! Saw Bob and met a guy named Dave. They were rippin it. The park looked so good I wished that air didn't equal injuries for me. powell1.8
I rode Buck today. It was the best it been this year, for me anyway. There was good snow and few people. All the runs seemed decent, no odd grooming tracks. The odd mounds of snow seem to be slowly blending into their suroundings. I only rode for an hour or so, had to head to work.
