MUD
just placed my order for a donek.the Aross Freecarve, 180 length, 12 M. Ooo RAH! Sounds nice! I love my FCII 179, it is a little softer, 11.2M. GREAT board. I am trying some new bindings this year to softer up my interface a little. I have some Ibex coming in the mail..... bobble
Watching KARE 11 right now. They are talking about the Perk's Abominable Snow Party at Buck Hill coming up. They are looping a bunch of skiers. I don't know when the footage was taken but it looks like early morning. Conditions looked great. Sunny sky. Fresh cord. The footage did not show ANY SNOWBOARDERs. ALL SKIERS. Some of the loop was just people running gates. Occasionally they'd pan and show a wide open run with a few skiers. I'm fairly certain at least one of us was there that day. Had to have been. Carving would make better footage then skiers skidding. KARE 11 hates snowboarder people.
BobD
Stopped by the Hoigards by Buckhill today. Thier price for a precision tune is $45. Looks like they have little to do in the tuning shop at the moment. Lows are forecast about 10 degrees above average in the ten day forecast :( BobD
Scuff
Sorry guys - I literally couldn't wait for snow to hit MN this year.. Just got back from a weekend of race training at Copper Mtn. Sure, it was sunny, warm, and the snow was, well.. pretty amazing, but freecarving was perilous at best due to the exceptional number of gapers clogging up the lifts and public runs. Would "wait for a window" before dropping in, but still had four near-misses. Looking forward to our calm Sunday Mornings @ Buck. Funniest quote overheard on the hill: 'Sir, you are not a competent skiier...Please stay out of the race course... If one of our racers hits you, you will mostly likely die.... thank you.' Bobble: Your new Donek is going to be a funnnnnnn board! That KARE11 "Celebrity Snowboard Race" sounds hilarious!! If it's a GS race, my money is on Pawlenty, but if it's BoarderX, I'm betting Ventura will win. BobD: Whoa - Didn't know that Hoigaards expanded. That sure is convenient. Nice price too! For tuning and structure I still recommend Steve at the Hoigaards on excelsior. Besides being a ski-technician,and a Master Bootfitter, he is alpine savvy and really caters to carvers. Short of sending your board out to PTC for tuning and structure, he's the next best thing (and local.) Doug: Going Softer? What bindings were you using before? trent
so, did hoigaards buy gravity labs place? sure sounds like it. a bit of warning, if that's the case. make sure they replaced the knuckle heads that worked at gravity labs before dropping your board off there. a few of us had some really bad experiences with the old gravity labs folks. as in, our boards took weeks to complete. i went to pick mine up, they said it was done, then i showed them all the rust on the edges, and the ugly base. they hadn't even touched it! oh, and they didn't have the equipment to do a structure on snowboard bases at that store. they had to send everything out to their taylor falls store. so, if that's still the case, hoigaards will probably be sending your board up to st. louis park. in which case, you might as well go up there and talk to steve like karl suggests. speaking of karl..... i'm special! i've been riding already! i'm cooler than you! you suck. yes. i'm jealous! :-) -trent

bobble
karl - did you swing by bomber?
MUD
Hey Karl, Yeah, I got rid of my Catek world cups. I got some Ibex, the "new" burton race plates. I picked up a used axxess 180 from Mort in the classifieds. I am going to get my boot angles down, it is a 22.5 waist. The boots are the tricky part of the equation, I THINK I will be getting some Heads, but I am going to try Daves first. If I don't like the Ibex they will be replace by new chunks of aluminum, the WC's needed a new owner. Anyone up for an early season trip up to Spirit?????? Or Giants? When they open. Scuff
Bobble: Oh yeah! I did make my first trip out to Candyland, *ahem* I mean, the Bomber Store. Placed my pre-order for new gear and the other G-Teamers got their boots re-molded. Michelle was super-helpful, and even convinced me to add the BTS kit. Really curious to see how the new shocks work. Doug Sweet! I keep hearing stories about Burton bindings breaking or bails bending, but that's what I've ridden for years and never had a problem. (Well...I did break off a clip once..but it happened when I hit a gate when it was, like, -20° out.) Keep me posted on any Spirit/Giants trips. Trent Weird. I don't get it. If Hoigaards bought Gravity, then what the heck is the Zombie board shop?
Mr. T
While some don't like it, I really like the BTS, it will be interesting to hear what you think of it, which springs did you go with?
Scuff
Hey Tom! Yeah, I remember you were diggin the BTS last year, but I'm a bit skeptical that I'll like it as much as you. Hoping that little extra flex will allow for more minute adjustments back into the board... but have concerns about; a potential loss of power, too much ankle motion, or any sort of "rebound" that might occur mid-carve...though guessing the springs aren't all that powerful. Which springs are you using? I really couldn't decide, so ordered both the Red and Yellow sets. I'm gonna miss having a "walk mode." Did you find that the extra motion gave your calves more of a workout riding?
Mr. T
I ran the blues all last year and wanted the reds by the end. There is a bit of pogo effect but I think what I noticed most was the sort of soft response both tow and heel but more heel. By this I guess I mean that it took a bit more pressure and flexion to get the toeside to initiate. For me the heel side dampening made up for the toe side issues. Most of all I like them cause they just look all robotek. ha! Next time you go to CO early season you have to take all of us with you! Bubba
Posted this in off topic also, but was wondering if someone could pick me up a cities sampler at Target tomorrow morning (they sell out at about 8:05). I can't make the trip up from Rochester. I will be in Burnsville Saturday and could pick it up then and will bring your favorite ale for the effort. powell1.8
Bobble, I just sold an Aross. I actually really liked the board. It seemed very stable and forgiving. The one day I really rode the board I had a blast. I think it was one of my best days of the season. I was really torn about selling it, but I had other gear to purchase and needed funds. Great Choice.

Great Choice. good to know!!! thanks greg. i was going back and forth, trying to decide whether 175 with 11.7 sidecut or 180 w/ 12M. i think everyone at buck has a longer board than my 163, started to feel a little insecure. when i talked to shawn at donek he thought i should stick to 175 due to the short runs and crowds. just hope to stay of the disabled list. now where's that snow!!!
