I always assumed it was a discontinued material, but I have no idea for sure. I think grind performance from a stone is largely on the skill of the guy running the machine. The first grinds I produced with our stone were crap. They looked nice, but when you got them on snow, the boards only wanted to go straight. It was almost impossibly to get them to slide. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Mike at PTC after I got that machine and sent him a lot of boards to get his feedback as things progressed. While my grinding skill is still far from his, we are now providing a stone finish that works very well. Base flatness is mostly important to those who want a stone grind. It's unimportant to a certain degree if you belt grind. Too much curvature can be difficult to ride or be difficult to grind even on a belt.
