Super Rare board on ebay!!!!!

500 eBayers have looked at that board and no one has bid. Can't imagine why.... :)

eBay can be a wonderful place but it can frustrating too. I run an eBay store and I specify in all product listings that I'll ship to the US and Canada. I can't tell you how many times an item sells and then I discover the buyer is overseas. Maybe I should direct these buyers to this really cool $900 rare board.

I sold a pair of Line Invader twin tip skis to a woman in Australia today. The USPS has a 46" length limit on packages going there and both UPS and DHL quoted me over $350 shipping. The buyer is a new eBayer with zero feedback. Now I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the thing relisted.

Just had a thought. If that Burton board is worth $900, what could I get for my Snurfer? :D

Pat: I guess you missed the part in your preferences about blocking bids from buyers in countries you don't ship to.

not sure if that'll work for you. If not, log in, go to preferences, "show all" then "Buyer Requirements" "edit."

Thanks. As a rule I don't mind shipping overseas but in this particular case it's impossible. USPS has a 46" length limit to Australia. UPS and DHL both quoted me over $350. I shipped a Merlin Fortius Road Bike to New Zealand last week but I was able to split the shipment into two packages to get around the length restriction. I also sold a Merlin Fat Ti mountain bike and discovered he was in Spain. He was willing to pay the shipping and it's already been delivered. With the dollar so weak, we're getting a lot of overseas orders. Shipping skis is a hassle but most everything else goes smoothly.

Pat, it might be worth having a chat to Chris Prior. I bought a board from him a few years ago which was a 169 cm (67 in) and it didn't cost me anywhere near that amount in freight. From memory it was only about $120 AUD, at a time when the AUD was trading at around $0.60 to the USD. $350 sounds utterly ridiculous.

You should hear some of the stories of folks wanting snowboard estimates. I have had even more extreme examples of over-valued snowboards. On the other hand, I have worked with owners of stolen boards to establish current real world value on super rare vintage boards. In one case the insurance company offered 250$ for a board worth more like 3000$ Two sides of the coin. Seek the middle ground.
