Snowboard Coach

Snowboard Coach and outdoor instructor in wilderness adventure skills at private non-profit boarding school in mountains west of Redding, CA. Full time, with annual salary of $32,500, and work week Friday through Monday. Position works with learning difference students in grades 7-12, coed, as a part of a five member team. Sick time, medical benefits (costs shared between employee and employer) and liberal time off periods during school breaks. Young, but established and well-respected school with outstanding staff averaging 85% retention over last several years. Position covers last week of August through May school year plus 5 1/2 week summer school-camp from late June through end of July.

Job segments include:

1. Training and coaching competitive snowboard team in school league using Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park.

2. Representing school at league meetings.

3. Supervision of team at all events including state championships.

4. Supervision of students at boarding school during weekends.

5. Leading and teaching outdoor adventure skills (i.e., climbing, caving, rafting, backpacking, etc.)

6. Summer camp includes four 5 day, 24 hr. trips with campers.

7. Attendance at all staff trainings.

A minimum 3 year commitment is expected. First day of employment will be August 27, 2007. Interviews will be conducted July 23 through August 3, 2007. Interviews must be in person.
