Blackbird Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Check this out BOL people... Sorry but I gotta show this fantastic piece of work off.... I have 4 boards.. 2 freeriders and 2 Alpine boards at the moment.. They are kept at my parents house and my dad being a retired carpenter decided to start a small project... Seeing as I was using a two seater sofa to store my boards during the off season...(Between the two armrests) He curiously asked for some measurements of my decks... Basically a measurement of their length along the boards between the nose and tail before they upturn (Effective edge) I came home from work and lo and behold.......... All it cost in timber was about $22 AUD and the foam pipe insulation tube was $5 a metre..... How cool is that... The wood in the insulation is just some broom handle that he cut down to length. My children have a place to sleep now!!! Note: they're spaced unevenly top to bottom as the boards vary in length.. They are all stored in the zipper plastic bag they came with.... At the bottom is the 155 freerider (Burton Iguchi /Rockboard -Black Bag) 2nd from bottom is the 160 freerider (Burton 2005 Custom X -White Bag) above that is my 164 FP and up top is my 178 R-17.. Thought I'd share this with you all as I'm totally blown away with this mental piece of art!! I still have to sand it and varnish it to finish it off though.... Talk about preserving the natural camber of my decks!!!!! there isn't any twist or anything... It's all dead level!!! :D Quote
utahcarver Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 I believe a new standard has been set here. Nice work, Mark Quote
pebu Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Looks like a coffee table. :) Be sure to use coasters. Quote
Dave Pushee Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 that your mom hasn't used them as a plant stand. Quote
Guest shrederjen Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 None of my boards came in plastic.... I had to make fabric covers for them. Nice! J. Quote
AaronG Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Great rack!!! Just think how many boards you can store if you move the broomsticks a bit closer together. YOu can easily get another 6 boards in there. Can you say 'bigger quiver'? Quote

YOu can easily get another 6 boards in there. Can you say 'bigger quiver'? Ha... yes the design can be easily modified when the quiver expands!! Someone say custom 185 Coiler??? Main thing is that they sit there base side up with the camber "drooping down" whilst the nose and tail are the only things supporting the boards weight.... I think soon it'll be another place to hang the washing out to dry on a rainy day!! Multiple uses!!! I too didn't get covers for my freeride decks... I did with the Alpine ones.. I have a friend in a boardshop here in Sydney that had a few spares he was going to throw out so i pillaged them..... Quote
