RDY_2_Carve Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 Taking the Coiler out tommorow for the first time... I just mounted up my F2 Intec Titanflex and I'm wondering if I should be worried about the thread engangement? The top of the inserts on some Coilers are recessed by about 3 mm, so you need longer binding screws to get sufficient thread engagement - See the parts list. I just used the standard screws that came with the F2's? What if I use TD2's on the Coiler? Same issue? I need the M6x18mm screws instead of the M6x16mm? They seem like they are mounted up pretty solid but I'd hate to destory the board because I was an idiot! Quote
peter_x Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 The rule of thumb is to get 4 threads of engagement. I only get 2.5 on my Liqiud Arc, but I'm an intermediate rider at best. Quote
Fleaman Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 if you have a pair of vernier calipers, you can stick the depth measurer down the hole with your bindings on top and take all the guesswork out of the screw size. Quote
Linus Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 I've been using F2 RaceTi for the last two seasons with my coiler and you don't have to worry at all. Standard screws work fine. Have fun with it. Quote
Neil Gendzwill Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 That warning was for older Coilers. If you have a new one, not a problem AFAIK. Quote
Mike T Posted January 21, 2007 Report Posted January 21, 2007 That warning was for older Coilers. If you have a new one, not a problem AFAIK. It doesn't even have to be that new... I was able to use normal screws on my 1st Coiler which was an '03-'04. P.S. R2C, I am looking forward to hearing about your 1st day on that stick! Quote
Kirk Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 That warning was for older Coilers. If you have a new one, not a problem AFAIK. Yup! TD2 - M6-16mm good to go! Standard F2 mounting screws worked fine as well (though I prefer Bombers on my PR) Coilers are a fun ride - enjoy!! Quote
Ernie00 Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I had the same problem with an older 2000 build coiler and TD2's. I had to buy longer screw, grind them a little. Quote
