Why are people that ride ec boards such as Swoard running flat-0 degrees on both feet? Is it prefrence or does it work much better this way for ec?

It is all preference ! Everything depends on weight distribution. If your weight or body is not in the proper place you will wash out. The angle of the board changes the requirement of the body. And the snow will change it also . Hero snow you don't need the best body control and you look good. Hard pack is harder to look good. Ice or extreme hard pack you have to have everything wright. Your body has to be in the perfect position to carve on the hard stuff. The board will make a difference on the hard stuff. At least I think so. But what do I know

main reason is backside turns are easier without lift/canting on such wide boards: otherwise backside edge can chatter too easily, especially if you miss the rotation...

If you size your bindings as loose as those guys, you don't need lift/cant. But imo, that's dangerous.

The argument about decambering holds zero water, because everybody's board decambers, regardless of binding setup, not just EC'ers'. Besides, the time you need maximum mobility is when the board is not decambered. Lifts and cants help bigtime there.
