Hello all,

I started carving this winter (after a year on soft boots) and at first my toesides felt good and heelsides terrible. So...I started working on heelside and once I figured out angulation and keeping my weight forward the heelside initiation and turn feels totally comfortable & locked in.

Now, my toeside feels week and awkward.

Is this just part of the learning progression? (If I can get a video posted soon I will.) Or is angulation a different matter from one side to the other?

I have big feet so am running at 50/45 which I like just fine....just curious as to what others who have been through this learning curve might add....

Just sounds to me like it's time to go back and do some basic angulation drills, this time paying attention to toeside. I kinda go back and forth on my turns, stronger on one side, then the other. At least that is my perception. Sean from Snowperformance camps gave me a drill at SES once, called the butler turn. Simply, put one arm behind your back @ horizontal, and one in front the same. Go on a easy run and do angulated turns. You should find out right away where you feel weak, balance-wise. Go get 'em!

I went through the same thing - wasn't happy with my heelsides, so for a while I focused so much on them that they got better than my toesides. This season I feel like my heelsides are lagging behind my toesides again, like they got worse over summer(?). For me I think the key will be to quit focusing on one side quite so much. I'm sure if I spend a few days thinking about my heelsides while I'm doing my toesides, I'll be lopsided the other way again.

Have been riding various angles (up to about 70/65, down to 45/40) and I don't think that's a factor.
