Looking for someone to ride with!

Due to a goofy set of circumstances, I'm going to be at Silver Mtn from Wed Feb 14 to Wed Feb 21. Wondering if anyone is in the neighborhood.

Brad

update... I'm still on for this trip, but will be staying in Kellogg with no car ( no worries, 1/2 mile walk to gondola base )

i've never actually been there before. i just started college out west this january, so i am new to the whole northwest resort thing. more used to riding the old hills back east with ice and crowds.

sure enough, guys... it will be good to ride with you Alex- just don't look to me for much help with technique 'cause I've only been riding hardboots about year and 1/2 and quite frankly... I suck.

Galen... I'm certain we will post our experiences here at BOL somewhere. I've never been there either. Looks like your possible trip overlaps when I'll be there.

- Silver Mtn has 2,200 vert.

- looks to be shallow to moderate slopes

- looks like low attendance

- 3 mile gondola ride from town to resort is only access (20 min)

- all lodging is in town of Kellogg

I'm doing this trip on the cheep, and so I'm staying at the Trail Motel in town. phone: 208-784-1161 My cell: 319-210-4096

I bring radios... any particular channel preferred?

For the past week or so I've been watching the 2 web cams that Silver Mtn has... looks like I might be the only person on the mountain !!

Yup, a friend grew up in Kellog and she said the place is fairly empty, especially mid week. also said Lookout is worth checking out, small but uncrowded, 20 minutes from Kellogg. when we finalize our plans late this week, I'll email you my cell, dont have a radio. We'll probably be staying in Cur-Dee-Lane.

well, LAA-DEE-DAA...

Looking forward to it!

A couple of years ago did you sell a set of blue 'Carrier' bindings to me? I never could get my girlfriend to try them so I sold them at a low price to Oldkey in Minneapolis area for youth racing. If you're not the guy... NEVERMIND:D

Yup, that was me, last year I think?? Even @ 140lbs, they scared me. The Family is vacillating between Bachelor and Silver, it will all depend on conditions/weather. If it's a tossup, it will be Silver. I love Bachelor, but we go there ALL the time.

Brad, the votes are in. Were going down to Bachelor. weather forecast is for a higher chance of stable weather, bachelor still runs they're lifts in marginal conditions. the lifts getting shut down at Silver made us a little nervous in case the weather gets foul. Oh well, would have been nice to meet you, hope you trip gets better. Give a report when you're done, as I'm still keen to get out there this year. Enjoy! :biggthump

The Jackass lift(4) is fixed according to my better half and I get to go sans kids on Saturday,Mar 17St Paddy's Day. Any palm draggers want to hookup I'll stop at the lodge around 10:00 for a few minutes after a few warmup laps.Steve

Tommorrow is Retro day at Silver and if for no other reason, come and see us wackos as we parade around the mountain in 80s neon and 70s skibum chic!I can pretty much guarantee that my old but very bright OP suit will be easy to spot.(uniform of a short lived demo team that was dissolved because we refused to wear the suits) p.s. chair four never did get fixed but they still groom out there;yippee!

Well, the second to last Saturday(operations on Sat. only now) of the season was surprisingly good with corn and nice slush that got faster after the clouds gathered. The kind of stuff made for an allmountain board. The park was fun and apparently I was the only snowboarder doing the whole forty foot rail. Not like many were there to do it but pretty cool feeling to get get kudos from the local teen-bonkers at 42yo and on hardboots. My backside threes in the bumps and the laidout toeside carves on the quarter pipe elicited similar reactions and I credit the hero snow with most of it.

Also tried the beer special sent over by Coeur d'Alene Brewery.A Vanilla Stout that went down oh so easy! This is my new favorite brew.WHO NEEDS FOOD?!

Word is we're getting a superpipe next season and better attention to grooming(guess I wasn't the only one bitching) and a solution for the ailing chair 4...Hope it all comes true. They are committed to opening one more Saturday on the 21st if snow holds up and then there is the Leadman on the 28th (board/ski,bike/run)
