Guest crystalplanet Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Hello, I'm sorry about making my first post a question but, I'm having trouble with my burner 167. Yesterday, I rode this board for the first time and noticed that the board hooks up way quicker than I anticipated. I thought this was just my technique problem so I rode more. After about 4hours, I still couldn't get use to it so I came back home and take a look at my board if there is anything wrong. It says that Setback= +3.5cm:confused: So I measure this thing and the insert pack is really set forward 3.5cm from the center of the running length. WTH? I'm thinking about puting my binding back as much as I can but, I was wondering If this will create any problems...... I'm sure there are many of you who had Burners so can you give this Burner newbie a little tip? Thx 4 reading Quote
bobdea Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 with the 188 and 197 I liked riding them way up front, if my bindings were not nearly as close to the nose as I could get them the boards did not work as well for me. Quote

Like Bob, I like to be forward in the pattern. Welcome to BOMBER !! Where did you find the suggestion to mount +3.5cm? Quote
bobdea Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 also, forgot to mention that burners do ride drastically different than many other boards, in particular from that time period the flex was stiffer up front than most other boards and so they rode allot different than most other stuff out there play with it and learn to power the nose a little more and you'll probably like it BTW be careful of the tail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris Houghton Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 The whole insert pack is 3.5 cm forward of the effective edge center. The best setup I found was to mount the bindings centered on the insert pack, in other words you end up 3.5 cm forward of center. I think this is just as much to keep you from overpowering the tail as it is for initiating the stiff nose. Nice board, but watch that tail! Quote
philfell Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Burners were designed to be riden on the nose. That's why the insert pattern is that way. Your board hooks up that fast because.....well.....it's a short board with a split tail. It is going to do much tighter turns than a similar length board from that time. You could move the bindings tailward on the insert pattern, but this will not allow the board to do what is was intended to do. Quote
