Joe D Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 I noticed on the Bomber store that the new Track 225's & 325's don't appear to have the little grey piece that sits at inside of the very upper rear cuff. Which got me thinking... do I really need that little piece, b/c it seems to just take up space at the back of your calf. It unsnaps from a little slot. The xtra ~ 1/2 cm , in height can't do anything for your leverage. Is it just a way to adjust for different upper calf volumes, or is there something else I'm missing? How many Raichle / Deeluxe riders have removed it? Good or bad? Quote
Fleaman Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 My Lemans boots never came with one, but I got some parts from someone and in the box was the rear spoiler. I was tempted to put it on but I find that my boots rub in that location anyways. I will never know. Quote
D-Sub Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 I didnt think the SB series (which the new boots are based on) had those back pieces. I had suzukas, which had them, and I tried both in and out but I couldnt tell the diff. Id be really surprised if something so small made much of a difference. man...if deeluxe releases an "AF" series with buckles...shhhheeeiiit. Quote
bobdea Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 on my AFs it makes a sizable difference it softens the rear of the boot if they are out, this is noticable when you lean back on the SB stuff I never thought they made much of a difference though Quote
Joe D Posted January 2, 2007 Author Report Posted January 2, 2007 I think bobdea's point makes sense - it's another layer of plastic to stiffen the flex at the rear. All the older SB's I've seen seem to have them. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=13733 In this pic the 324's /325's have them, can't really tell on the blue pair... Quote
felix Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I once lost the piece (fell out when taking the inner out for drying and got lost at the hostel). I think it feels awfull on the Suzukas/AF600. This was on the back foot. Your mileage might vary depending front or back foot and asymetric vs symetric shell. Quote
big mario Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 my calves were screaming/pleading for mercy when i had them in,took them out and life is all sunshine, lollipops, and sh*t mario Quote
