RDY_2_Carve Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 New Mexico had worse conditions than what you're having last year. My prayers have been answered this year! NM hogged this last storm and decided not to share with CO (for once!). It's the same storm that's sitting in the middle of the US right now. If you are fortunate enough to be in it's path you are going to get 25"+ guaranteed. 58" storm total at Angel Fire. Now 100% open! 27" storm total at Sandia! Went from 5% open (bunny slope only) to 100% open starting today! That's a 20 minute drive from my house to the tram and a 15 minute tram ride to the top of the ski area. Guess what I'll be doing on my free federal holiday Jan 2? Gotta love the 9 minute ancient lift rides! The terrain, convienience, and grooming make up for it! I enjoyed a 29" storm total powder day at Santa Fe yesterday. I tried to carve which lasted about 5 runs and then the softies came out. More powder coming next weekend! If I ever meet this El Nino person they'll be getting a big hug from me! :) Quote
bumpyride Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 Not only did we have to contend with the only truly brown Christmas on record in Duluth(no trace of snow), it is now 37 degrees and raining hard for the last 2 days, but the grass is turning green again. Global warming is just a fallacy, it's just a matter of coincidence of coincidences all mounting up, only to be explained by Exxon's paid scientists and paid politicians as normal anomolies in the great scheme of things. Keep driving those SUV's and fail to carpool into those Mountains, and buy a bigger house than you need sucking up more resouces building them and using more energy to maintain them. It's all just a coincidence. but luckily we'll still be able to get good corn snow conditions in Antarctica in July in a couple of years, of course just till the anomolies stop. And yes, I do things that cost me money and convenience and lower my impact on the Earth. Am I Pissed off? Yep. Am I doing something about it? Yep. Am I depressed. Nope. I'm doing something about it! Are you? Quote
boarderboy Posted December 31, 2006 Author Report Posted December 31, 2006 Damn straight, bumpy! I drive a diesel Beetle that will soon (hopefully) burn cast-off fry grease. We live in a small, passsive solar house and have paid big $$ to have a PS addition designed. Each morning (that's above 20 deg F - which is all of 'em now) I walk out onto our diminutive front porch, turn so my bum is pointing north, bend over, and pull my pants down, hoping that our beloved VP (and the assembled energy moguls) will at least get a slight twinge of discomfort from the karma I'm sending their way. But I'm still depressed amd the affordable generics don't work nearly as well as Big Pharma's highly advertised high-priced spreads. I need snow, dammit. Good groomed to you, and may the Meek finally save the Earth! Quote
