jtslalom Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 I talked to a guy working in a snowboard shop at Hunter mountain in New York. The shop had an early model Burton Air hanging from the ceiling. I did remember the board and had definately ridden it but wasn't sure of the year. The shop guy told me it was a 92. He also said that there was a market for early 90's Craig Kelly and Jeff Brushie Airs. He claimed to have offered a kid $600 for an early 90's Craig Kelly Air and the kid would not sell it to him. I couldn't believe that. Are some older boards really worth that much money? I just can't believe that people would pay that much money for a board that by todays standards sucks to ride. I guess people must want them for show pieces. Quote
neil sunday Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 alot of these old boards we sold as we were growing up, and now that we have settled down, made some money, we'd do anyting to have our old stuff (or replicas of it) back!! I made the same mistakes of selling or giving away boards that i would love to have as a show piece. Quote
MUD Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 And to think I cut mine up to see how it was built...... I had the first year of the black and purple Kellys still sitting around. It went through a band saw last summer. I just find it funny what people will pay for things sometimes. If only I had hung on to all my boards. My first board was a Sims Terry Kidwell. That is about the only one I would still like to have....... Maybe my old Mystery Air (the black one) as well. Quote
wavechaser Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Wish I stll had my plastic Sims Lonnie Toft with the skateboard deck attached to the top with the "sky hooks" on it...used to ride that thing on golf courses with sneakers (boots didn't work with the sky hooks) on! Quote
cfj04 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Tell your shop owner about this one that I might sell if he's intersted. Craig Kelly slope style 173. Much harder to find than the "airs". And, I'm not looking for $600 CJ Quote
Neil Gendzwill Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Try looking at the prices on old skateboards sometimes. I sold a Dogtown Shogo a couple of years ago for nearly $US600, and it was unrideable due to a crack. I could have gotten $1200 for it if it was in rideable condition. I haven't looked lately, but guys were routinely getting over $1000 for vintage Turners. Quote
