Sinecure Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Check this out: http://www.skipass.com/guide-matos/ski/2007/duret/legende-series.html 200/170/190. Those wacky Frenchmen. Holy Fat Skis Batman! In case it wasn't clear, yes those are fat skis. Advertised as the fattest ski in the world (right now). OK, next season I'm going to try mounting a pair of snowboards at 90 degrees and ride them as skis. It'll be a bitch if I crash with no release bindings, but fun to try anyway. Oh, and my first ever snowboard was made by Duret. It was a 185 swallowtail with plastic bindings and no highbacks. 1986, that was a long time ago. Quote
Justin A. Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Thats as wide as an alpine board! WOW! ________ IOS GAMES Quote
tex1230 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I guess I should have ordered a pair of coilers... Quote
Skully Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 OK, next season I'm going to try mounting a pair of snowboards at 90 degrees and ride them as skis. It'll be a bitch if I crash with no release bindings, but fun to try anyway. It's been done... There's a guy in Utah who has a couple of Factory Primes, mounted up like skis for powder... (Don't know if he used ski bindings or not). Don't you wanna SINK just a little in the powder - not just skim on the top two inches? I also know someone who mounted up a couple of alpine sticks for a pond-skimming contest. Unfortunately, he ate crap before he made it to the pond, so he never found out how they performed as "skimmers". He did say they were pretty fun to just ski on... Here's what he did this year: Yes, he won..... Quote
Derf Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 It's (almost) been done: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=3932 Quote
skatha Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Yup, he won "Best Costume" the weekend before the icefest that felled my shoulder... By the pic, conditions were MUCH better for the pond skim.... Quote
monodude Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 That is a model called "Legende" It's a FAST fall line/bump MONOSKI. It is the successor to the "World Cup" model. Quote
slopetool Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Someone is really asking for a kick in the nards skiing with those monsters. Quote
DrCR Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 I won't if the ski-only resorts will allow them... Quote
www.oldsnowboards.com Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 One of the Mt Hood local "Line" pro-freestyle skiers has been testing some super "Fatties" for a least two seasons. They are pretty much just two snowboards from what I can tell. I remember some of the early "Ski Boards" were really wide also. Still hurts to say those words. I believe they are well past the limit of what helps in the pow yet doesn't sacrific overall rideability. The super fat skis put the edge so far away from the center of the ski that the feel awkward when set on edge. IMO , much like a "too wide" alpine board. (example: alpine board that is much wider than the riders stance/boot length requires) Quote
