I haven't been on Bomber in a while, but I ran into a few other carvers at June this weekend and they told me about the June SNES. I'm planning on attending, but I have a quick question: Would this also be open to spouses/significant others who ski?

To everyone who showed up: Even though I left a bit earlier than everyone else, it was great to see all of you and to ride with you again! Thanks for a fantastic morning.

Generally folks meet in the quad area outside the main lodge just below chair #1 - right by the visitor's center. From my experience, most will make 3 or 4 warm-up runs down Summit Run and/or Miracle mile shortly after the lifts open. Once the east side opens up (usually about an hour later), we head over to the east side to chair 7 or 10.

I wasn't able to make it last week due to a family gathering, but I'll be there tomorrow.

I will be at Heavenly (for the first time) Christmas week. Though I’ve ridden at a couple resorts in Tahoe, it’s been a while - and not yet at Heavenly. It would be great if I could spend most of my time on good carving runs rather than spending a day or so trying to figure out where they are. Could anyone recommend 2 or 3? Thanks!

I've only ridden Tahoe a couple of times, and that was a number of years ago and not at Heavenly. If anyone is familiar with Heavenly, could you recommend a run or two that lends itself well to carving? Thanks.

I'm tentatively in. The ASSESS is my first choice, but I have to get down to my house in Baja sometime over winter break to take care of some maintenance. That will basically be based around the weather and can be done anytime during the break, so I'm more likely to be at ASSESS than Baja.

Is there any talk out there about a 2012/13 ASSESS this year? Haven't seen anything yet. Yeah...I know it's early, and so far the season has been off to a slow start.

My wife and I will be in Tahoe (Heavenly) from Dec. 24 - 27. Will any other SoCal folks be there during that time frame?

I've got this week to finish up at school before Thanksgiving break, which I'll be spending in Baja. (Supposed to be a moderate swell arriving - maybe.) Hopefully, by the time I get back, it'll be time to hit the hill.

Sounds good. I think it's time to take the bike rack off the car and replace it with the ski/board racks. It'll be good to see all of you again!

The snow was doable, but on the hard side. I took a break around 9:30 thinking the sun could do its thing and soften it up a bit, but then the clouds rolled in and negated that theory. Made 2 or 3 more runs on 7 down, but with the flat light and inconsistent surface conditions I figured discretion was the better part of valor and called it a day. Things were starting to get a bit sketchy. Now that the weatehr's turning more wintery, maybe next weekend will show more promise? After reading the ASSESS posts for last weekend and talking with those who were there for it, I wish I would have opted for the snow instead of the surf on the 8th.

After reading all of the replies on how much fun it was yesterday I guess I made the wrong call and should have headed northeast to the mountains instead of southwest to the ocean. I'm just glad you guys had some decent snow and such a good time. :) Sorry I didn't make it.

So...how was it today at Summit? I ended up padling out at lower Trestles. It was small but fun. Did I miss some decent snow after all, or was surfing the better call. If the snow was good, let me know, but...don't rub it in too hard. :)

I may, unfortunately, not be making it after all. Since they still haven’t been able to blow snow, it’s hard to justify the ticket expense for both my wife and I. (I should have bought season passes. I will as soon as they go on sale for next year!) As soon as the snow guns are put back in operation or some natural stuff starts to fall I’ll see you up there.
