  1. Stop in and get yours today....I couldn't resist telling all of you about this....helps jumpstart my day in the winter before hitting the slopes! Enjoy!!:)
  2. Hey Scott, Thanks for the updates.....bed rest was probably the best thing for Holly...and it sounds like you are coming through quite well, Holly! Way to go!! Remember, there's going to be a lot of snow for you to ride on later this year...so, keep up with the recovery! You can do it!!! You have a great man in Scott to keep you company....way to go, Scott! Perhaps Chunnae, Mark, & I could plan a group visit soon? What do you say, guys! We keep missing each other on the slopes but maybe we can team up for a visit? My cell is 443-610-8488 if u want to plan a visit, let me know!:D Oh yea, Scott, what style Rudy Project glasses did Holly break? Were they just sunglasses or prescription glasses?I'll be the first to pitch in for a replacement pair.
  3. Hey folks! I just returned from a trip to NH's Tuckerman's Ravine. I drove up from Maryland, skated the Sayreville,NJ bowl on Saturday and when I hit Milford, CT's new concrete bowl it was closed and wet. I slept in my car at a rest stop in RI just off I-95 and I arrived at Pinkham Notch Sunday morn. The hike up the ravine was mostly no-see-um-free, but there was still a bit of snow on the trail. I made it to HoJo's in 2 hrs, then it started raining. I camped out on the Ranger Station's porch for lunch. After changing from shorts into Gore-tex bibs and jacket, I proceeded up to the floor of the ravine(another 30 mins) while most of the others hanging out for the rain to stop were on their way back down. Shortly after starting off wearing the Gore-tex, The sun came back out, I removed the jacket and made it to the ravine where about 2 dz others were skiing, snowboarding or just hiking. I'd say snowboarders were in the majority by one or 2. Anyways, there was one big slide just before I got there....and I saw one avalanche of rock & ice just as I was embarking on my first run. While I was climbing up the left chute for my 2nd run, the clouds engulfed the summit of Mt Washington and started to swallow up the ravine....thinking that the thunderstorms I had heard were forecasted for the region had arrived, I carefully climbed down to a area where I could safely put my feet in the bindings and quickly get in another run. Down the steep slope I went, carving some nice turns in the soft corn and choppy firmer snow...what an awesome feeling...it was wonderful....as I approached the floor of the ravine I ollied a 2ft chunk of ice and ended up doing an endover-180 followed by 3 tailslide 360s. I was happy to get some turns in at one of the most beautiful spots in the world!. I put the backpack on and proceeded back down the trail, rockhopping all the way down in my soft, but stiff snowboard boots. It hailed bigtime on me...and I almost stopped to put my helmet back on, but soon the hail changed back over to rain....when I got to the bottom I was wet but warm, and I now had 2 big, fat, ugly blisters, one on each heel as well. The trip was well worth it...there's still plenty of snow up there...in fact, the Left Gully and Left Chute were rideable from top to bottom....Hillman's Highway was doable but sketchy as there was much undermining present. Catch it if you can!:)
  4. Hey Scott & Holly & Ken! I just returned from a trip snowboarding down Tuckerman's Ravine when I got an e-mail from Barry about Holly's accident. Get well soon, Holly! I'm looking forward to seeing you & Scott back on the slopes later this year! While reading this thread I saw Ken's post about his friend's heart attack while doing one of the things he loved to do....sorry to hear about that, too, Ken! Godspeed! All this makes my 2 big, fat, ugly, painful blisters...one on each heel not feel so painful anymore! Keep us informed, Scott, about Holly's recovery...and if she gets transferred to Bethesda, let us know as I work on the other side of the Beltway away from Bethesda, and, like Barry stated, I could meet you there and hang out w/you after work.:D
  5. Sorry to hear about the death of this person but where were her riding partners? Didn't they help her out? What, no riding partners? Human error...not due to bindings!
  6. Hey Willy! Yea, been to the Open several times....it's cool but I'd rather ride....this time riding up via voiture this wknd....hey, you got any room in your ski house april 1st & 2nd?...I'll be at Mt. Snow that wknd...I'd be leaving sunday afternoon 4/3...just looking for least expensive lodging...thanks in advance if you can help a brother out.:D
  7. Do any of you guys know of any lift tix deals in VT(incl Stratton) you'd like to share as I'm coming up this wknd for a week...riding midweek? Thanks!:)
  8. I like my Fish 160...I ride in stiff softies on it.:D
  9. Hey Scott! At Whitetail last week one night I saw 3 guys sideslip the whole way down below the high-speed quad, each falling about 3 times each....to me, making turns seems a lot more fun but to each's own. Also, yea, we do have to constantly glance back to make sure the kamikazis or pointers aren't aiming for us as we carve across the slope....or speed up and slalom around the rest and always look for the open terrain. I hope you can make it out wed eve.:D
  10. I've seen patrollers in hardboots before. Most crossed over from skiing.
  11. Mix up some PC-7 from the hardware store and fill in the ding...will keep water from getting into the core and protect the board.:D
  12. I was in Turkey and I went to Mt Uuludag to go snowboarding...I had to rent since I hadn't brought my(soft) boots and board. They only had a few boards...all w/plate bindings! I had to rent very ancient stiff ski boots that I had to cram my feet into from another rental shop from where I rented the board. After that I only had enough $ for a 5-run lift ticket. Within one run I met a couple of Austrian hardbooters who were giving me the thumbs up...we rode the rest of the day...and since they were staying there for a week, they gave me their lift tix to burn some runs when mine was exhausted. I had so much fun despite cramped toes that I bought some white Raichle's when I got home and a Madd Mike's AC166, then I drilled and installed Snow-Pro's...as I was hooked and loving life!:D
  13. Who took advantage of the big dump and got some runs in? Those of us down south want to know? Hope you had FUN!:p :D
  14. After riding w/13 others at the 6th Annual Adult Hooky Day at Whitetail yesterday w/temps in the 50s, I dug some trenches in the evening snow whilst everyone cleared off the mountain and hid in the lodge. I had the entire mountain to myself. Who cares if you get a lil wet? :D
  15. :D Way to go, Adam! last time I spoke to you...was at DaFarm Slalom Races in August! Make some New England turns for me!!
