  1. re: blue tomato- i generally keep out of these conversations, but the blue tomato thing upsets me to no end. Here we are talking about a business we all love that is going down... and someone is talking about buying stuff cheaper elsewhere... ok so i know a lot of cheap people. I'll admit sometimes I am one of them. But i know in a niche industry like this here is how it works. For all boots, boards and bindings, those of us who sell them have to put the money out up front (sometimes 6 months in advance of receiving product) and then hope we sell what we bought when we get it. We do this so we can always make sure we have product for those that need or want it each year. I do this as a second job and from Sept-April I work 16 hours most days, and I promise I am far from making a lot of money. I do it for some extra cash sure, but mostly I do it because i love this sport. And I know if i didn't do it then all of my customers might be SOL. Especially now! Blue Tomato buys left over stock, so they put out nothing in advance. They have almost no risk and work in volume. So cheers to them for being able to sell cheaper. But just remember every time you want to go buy cheap you may be helping to put the one retailer in your country out of business. Support your own country's retailers if you can. Otherwise there may end up being none of us left.
  2. HI All, this is truly sad news, for Jim and Angie, and our sport in general. It is never good to have a huge supporter, retailer and manufacturer in a fringe sport have this happen. It is scary for all of us! I have been keeping quiet as it was not my place to discuss this, nor did I want to infringe on Bomber. I have always made sure I never attempt to sell anything on their site, as that just isn't right But since there are questions, Jack and Shred are correct, I can now sell boots into the US. My site has been updated but I will note I have not gotten boot stock yet. Hope to have it before the end of November. I don't do preorders, so please sign up for my newsletter and i will let everyone know when they are in. Wishing the best to Jim and Angie and it looks like the forum will survive in some way! www.yyzcanuck.com
  3. I will miss it for the first time since it started... Hoping to have the baby the day before (Dave's bday)... and even if i don't i am certainly in no condition to ride! oh well, that just means room for one more person! I'll let Dave talk to you Chris, he may be in or not depending on what happens with me! if no baby i say he should go as long as he has his phone and can come home in case i go into labor! Have fun everyone!
  4. i have a pair of Deeluxe force thermos in M23 (stiffer than previous HB thermoflex), molded once... drop me a line...
  5. :biggthumpthanks for the inputs, i went with bulletproof's suggestion of the codec... and it worked! now i have the PVR set for all upcoming shows including episode 3! no more trying to get this to work! thanks for the suggestions and trying to help!
  6. my brain is on overload... i don't want to install a bunch of other new stuff, only to find out i need to do more with that too... how about help with what i have already installed since that was what was originally recommended... If any of the above answers are suggesting that, can you clarify that, just think of me as a computer infant when explaining :) Thanks
  7. ok so i am trying to watch episode 2, saw the pilot and episode 1 and episode 3 is on Friday night... so just need 2... so i tried to download from Brian's page and it only came up as an audio file, so i can listen but no video. Then i downloaded the utorrent program and downloaded it from piratebay via Corey's link. That took about 4 hours, but it says it is completely downloaded, but now i can't figure out how to play it. when i open up utorrent it shows it there and i hit the play/start button and nothing happens... any suggestions?????? thanks!
  8. can't you just buy her some jewelry and she'll be okay with you getting a new board? I thought that was the deal? I'm sure she likes diamonds!
  9. Thanks again to everyone who participated in the raffle, including a big thanks to Fin and Michelle for joining up with us and helping to offer some great prizes! The raffle closed yesterday and I have drawn the winners and have emailed them. So if you haven't heard from me, thanks for playing, but sorry! Just so everyone knows, this was a big success, i sold 66 tickets so raised $660 for breast cancer! Awesome, you guys are the best! thanks
  10. Thanks to everyone so far who has purchased raffle tickets! This is a great cause and has some great prizes too! I have reached my fundraising minimum thanks to you guys and it is much appreciated! This does not mean that the raffle is closed though, so if you still would like tickets feel free to make a donation.. i am more than happy to go over my goal/minimum amount! Thanks again to everyone and to Bomber crew for teaming up on this with us!
  11. not sure Matt, but my guess is he will push it there and if enough carvers come in and want stuff they could jump on the bandwagon.... gate might hire new gurus too... guess we just have to wait and see!
  12. That Sean has moved over to Equipe on the mountain... he is guru you speak of!
  13. there are a few things that have really made it awesome... 1. spray foam insulation... before we could tell which way the wind was blowing, now we are so sealed up we need to put in additional vents in the laundry room... think we have saved about 40% on heating bills (Dave can give exact figures) 2. engineered quartz counter tops! these are amazing.... both granite and concrete need sealing, these never do, they are made from crushed quartz held together with a resin so they are one solid surface with the color of natural stone (because they are), they are anti-microbial, guaranteed for life, no maintence and gorgeous, not to mention the company that made ours (Cambria) is LEEDS certified as a green company.... granite as i said needs to be sealed regularly to prevent bacteria build up in the cracks, and concrete is not at all a money saver, in fact it costs as much as granite and still needs maintenance... the quatrz was about the same cost as the medium level granite but so worth it! great company to work with all around! 3. radiant heat in basement bathroom...not done yet, but really looking forward to it! that's all i can think of right now!
  14. okay so maybe you were hoping for some cool lingerie pics... but this is better: Most of you know that i participate in a 60km breast cancer walk every year. In order to walk i need to raise $2000. This year Dave and I at yyzcanuck, inc and our good friends Fin/Michelle at Bomber have come up with a raffle that will help me raise money and give you guys a chance to win something great! here's the deal: Tickets: $10 each (you can buy as many as you want) What you can win: 2 prizes: First draw gets a pair of either F2 bindings or Ibex bindings (choose 1) from yyzcanuck, inc. (you can choose size and step-in or standard for F2. **Note that Intec heels are not included) Second draw gets a $100 gift certificate from the Bomber Store good towards Bomber manufactured products (TD3, BTS, Fin-Tec, HFP etc.) here's how to buy tickets: go here and make a donation in increments of $10 In the personal message area of the donation screen enter "BOL" Raffle closes on August 30, 2009 Winners will be notified via email! This is for a great cause and any donations are much appreciated! let me know if you have any questions! Think Boobs! Andrea
  15. If your boots fit at the beginning of the season after molding the liners then i would start by remolding them... they do pack out over time although most people can go more than 1 season, but that depends on how many days you are in them per season. If you haven't molded them and they felt good at first then i would go with they are too big, but if molded and fit you should be okay with size and before you start buying new stuff try to work with what you have. If the remolding isn't enough a good bootfitter can help you out with some L pads that go on the outside of the liners to hold the heel more in place... you may simply have a foot/ankle shape that needs a little extra padding in order to fill the standard size boot shell... see if the bootfitter has some other recomendations (none of the models you asked about are narrower than the 325T as far as i understand) so they may have other ideas for your narrow foot and filling the space. if it were me i would invest some time and money in the bootfitter adn see what they can do before jumping to a new size (unless they recommend it) or another boot. Just my 2cents though :D
  16. Seriously, I have to put the list into Habitant tomorrow, so if you haven't gotten in touch with me to tell me your name, then you are not on the list!!!! Please get in touch today to be on the list for Saturday! oh and BTW, I always reply to emails to say I got you, so if you have emailed me but not heard back then I didn't get it!
  17. Apres will be at Moe's on Saturday after Mt. Habitant.... Moe's is here You get 10% off food if you show them your lift ticket and once i have a better idea of numbers they said they will set aside some tables for us! Really just a place for everyone to get together and say hi and I have some yyz and deeluxe schwag to give away too! Hope to see you there!
  18. Erik J can you email me with your last name so i can put you on the list... and everyone else too! don't assume if we have talked about gear recently that i remember who everyone is... if i haven't heard from you and your BOL name is not your real name, please email me!!!!!! This will get you on the list for Mt. Habitant on saturday!
  19. HI Perly, I think you mean F2 Intec Titanium bindings? If so, the tuning kit is F2's way of saying lift kit. Since there is only 1 included with your bindings if you choose to use it you would use it on your back foot (follow the instructions provided by manufacturer for install). The wedges that come preinstalled on the bindings are the cant wedges which angle the binding and therefore your foot. Do these things (cant and lift) make a difference in your riding? yes. what is best for you? only you can figure that out! there are a lot of opinions out there about cant and lift... so read some and then try your bindings with cant, with cant and lift, with lift and with nothing... see what feels best to you! good luck!
  20. Hi All, anyone on the list who is coming to Habitant on Sat. the 28th and your BOL name does not tell me your real name can you email me at andreaatyyzcanuckdotcom I can give Habitant a list of people in our group (SQS is the official name) and we get tickets for $23 instead of $37. We can also get a discount at Mt. Blanc, just pick up a business card from me or Dave on Saturday and present it at the ticket window at Mt. Blanc and you will get a $3 discount! Having a hard time getting in touch with someone at Le Lounge for Sat. Apres, but will keep trying... So send me your name so i can put everyone on the Habitant list (I will be submitting it on Monday) and will check into the other Apres places that BoarderYUL suggested (thanks!)
  21. KFOTS see if Patrice wants to get in on this too, she was thinking about maybe coming up!
  22. i was rereading chewy and thought maybe i was crazy when i read your post... then i saw you edited it! Okay can people give me yes/no about staying until Monday because maybe we do a group Apres on Sunday at Mt Blanc and everyone is on their own for saturday?
  23. HI Chewy, i think you have the days mixed up. Sat. we will be at Mt Habitant, so people won't want to go up to Mt Blanc for apres... Sunday riding at Mt Blanc and then Tremblant on Monday.... I am having a hard time finding a place around Habitant for an Apres on Saturday(the hill already has their passholder appreciation party so they said no) and agree that no one wants to go far... anyone in the area have any suggestions? Also wondering how many people are plannig on riding on Monday? I am trying to get a deal on lift tickets but really do need some real numbers!
  24. I am trying to work on this but have some logistic kinks to work out.. stay tuned.. hopefully i will have more soon... Also, trying to put together an Apres so we can all be in the same place and we can give away some goodies from us and from Deeluxe! So the question is: who is actually staying for Sunday night? This would be my preferred night to arrange something but if most everyone is going home after riding then that changes things! Please post and let me know if you will be staying! Thanks.
