  1. HWY 18 shows no chain requirements, so I'm heading up to Bear Mtn on Thurs. Anybody else?
  2. It's So Cal, I really didn't think it was going to snow again and I didn't have any Mammoth trips planned.
  3. I will also be a no-show. No chains, so I'll be watching the Super Bowl instead.
  4. I can't find the parts to install my Spyder Spike chains on my car! Of course I didn't start looking until this evening. So I won't be able to make it up on Thurs. Damn, I'm such an idiot. If I would have looked a week ago and found the parts missing, I could have ordered some replacements. Now I'm screwed and staying home.
  5. I'll be hitting up Snow Summit for my 2nd day of riding for the season on Thurs, 1-28-2010. Will probably spend the night and ride on Friday at Bear Mtn. Anybody else available?
  6. George, did you really get a Kessler? Let me try out the legendary board!!! Count me in for Feb. 7. Erwin
  7. I'm a game day decision again. Will depend on which is better that day: surf or snow. Tim shows up at the 1:44 mark. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7BAzlu4hUc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7BAzlu4hUc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  8. I am another all mountain hardbooter that has converted to softboots for powder. I made the switch because softboots felt more forgiving in the powder. Like Bola, I would also recommend the Dupraz D1. I went from the Burton Fish 156 to the OSin 4807 168 to the Dupraz D1 5'5". The Burton Fish was better than the 4807 for tree riding, but the 4807 was alot better on the groom. The Dupraz matched the Fish for tree riding and the Dupraz was even better than the 4807 for carving on the groom. In fact the Dupraz is the best carving soft boot board I've tried. Well, the Dupraz and the Tanker 172 I use to own were fairly even for soft boot carving.
  9. Sharapova's screaming gives me a woodie and 14 y/o boys don't look like this:
  10. Good luck! I'll buy you a (root) beer if you place.
  11. Get the F2 Race Titanium. I also dropped the TD2's because they were too stiff. And the other thing I hated about the TD2 was the floppy back bail. When you buy the F2, get the standard bails. The bonus will be that we can easily swap boards I really want to try out your upcoming Coiler VSR. I can loan you a pair of ProFlex bindings, which feel very similar to the F2 Race bindings. The ProFlex are a little more flexible. ProFlex was the precursor to the F2 Race. I have both and prefer the F2 Race, just because it looks sturdier; ride wise, I can't really tell the difference. The F2/ProFlex are the easiest bindings for adjusting to different boot sizes, but the canting options are very limited. Since I don't use cants, that's not a problem for me.
  12. Definitely. I rode my Coiler and didn't hit a single pebble. YMMV.
  13. With the storm getting postponed, I might show up. I'll make a decision based on the Saturday evening forecast.
  14. Friday was another good day of carving at Snow Summit! Snow stayed firm all day (at least until 2:00 when I headed for the car), and they were blowing snow the whole time around Chair 7. It's been quite awhile since the local carving conditions have been so good, so early in the season
  15. Sounds great! I'm packing my gear now for a Friday session Forecast for Sunday is still iffy, so I'll probably be skateboarding instead of snowboarding.
  16. Possible rain / snow for Dec. 6th. I'll be a no show. Tomorrow (Dec. 3) might be my first day on the slopes. If I go, I'll post up a Snow Summit report. Forecast is looking good for next week!
  17. Maya Gabeira would get my vote, IF she was on the list. Maya in a bikini: Maya in the barrel:
  18. The surf is looking good for the long holiday weekend, so my first day at Summit will probably be Dec. 6. Hopefully the Santa Ana's will keep blowing and we'll have good conditions for the start of Dec. Terry, your John Handey quote got made into a couple of movies: Battle for Terra and Avatar.
  19. I've heard about Cuatro Casas, but I've never been there. In fact, I've never been south of Ensenada. I see the skatebowl in the foreground with the all the skateboards hanging from the wall. Did you drop into the bowl? Whenever you guys are ready for another Mission Viejo carving session, you can count me in. Well, unless the surf is good and I travel somewhere for the waves.
  20. Andrea and Julian, great job on the camera work and editing! I was working on my style/pumping the board between the Slam Video and the Carve Session Video. I can definitely see the improvements I made. Video analysis is the best. I'll have to increase the speed of the Coleman slides in our next session. Albert, you've got some counter rotation going, you can really see it at the 17:36 section. I'm pretty sure I've seen you do the same thing on a snowboard. Fix that on the street, and it will be fixed on the snow. Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply about the possible 11-22 carve session. But I was in Baja for the past 4 days, doing a lot of surfing! Did you guys get together on Sunday?
  21. Julian's high-side is much better.
  22. Hurry up and post my video!!!
  23. OH yeah, great time Now that I learned to slide my carveboard, I'm willing to ride it at higher speeds Andrea, at the next cement carving session, I think you should try out the carveboard. The carveboard is the lower speed alternative for us old guys.
