  1. I think, y'all are over-thinking this. Point the board, go straight, make subtle edge changes when needed. If you feel like you're about to bail, change edge. Yeah, you can ride the thing flat base, but you're always gonna look for an edge when it gets squirrely. Subtle changes v. hard carve. ? No big deal.
  2. It might be a bunny, but I still think it's a guinea pig. Bricky, thanks for findin' that critter.
  3. What the hell is this about anyway? I't makes me wanna post a picture of a guinea pig with a pancake on it's head, but I'm too lazy.......
  4. Chubz, I'm 25 days into the choice you are contemplating. 25 days, not a drop. The first week was interesting. I had a little trouble sleeping, 'cause I was trying to really sleep instead of passing out. And, I got my appetite back. No more calories from booze and my body wanted food. Amazing! Sounds like your friends are supportive. That's become a little bit of an issue recently. One guy is actually thinking about hopping on the wagon with me, but a couple others are asking me when I'm gonna start drinking again. If they don't wanna hang out, 'cause I'm not drinking, then f*** 'em. I don't need friends like that. Nobody does. I feel great, I'm saving money, I've started to exercise a little, the house is clean, and I'm drinking hot tea. You'll need to find things to do instead of drinking. Don't let a stressful day or boredom talk you into, "just one won't hurt". I've chosen to live again. I don't know where you are with alcohol, but I understand the need to figure it out. I'm 36, and these 25 days are the first 25 consecutive days of sobriety that I've had in years. Good luck with it. Email me if you'd like. What you want to do is a great thing. Give it a shot.
  5. Where the hell is all this Chuck Norris stuff coming from? It's invaded every forum/site I browse. No more Chuck!
  6. +1 for Boards of Canada "Julie and Candy" for cruisers, "Telephasic Workshop" for a little faster.
  7. Elvis was riding a Proton. Elvis rides TD's. Elvis hamming it up, is not the carving Elvis. I know who Elvis is, but I'm not sure he'd be happy if I named him.
  8. What made me start carving/hardboots? Damien Sanders and a couple guys at Kirkwood. Would've been late eighties. At Donner Ski Ranch, you could see Damien hucking backflips off that cliff on the lift line on his Avalanche ironing boards in obscene Koflach plastic boots. I think they were Koflachs, anyway, and then, there were a couple dudes at Kirkwood that just ripped on race boards. Those were the first guys I'd ever seen really carve, the Kirkwood guys that is. Damien ripped it up, but really wasn't a carver per se, but showed that you could ride anything in plastic boots. I was sold. It was probably '90, '91 when I stopped skiing completely, and got rid of my last soft-boot setup.
  9. with friends and/or crowded = NO by myself, no crowd = YES
  10. Look at the "Kevin" pic you provided. Reaching for the nose of your board will cure that nasty heelside wash-out. Look at the direction his shoulders are facing. Down the fall-line.
  11. (holding head and muttering) Inflammatory Remark Suppressors at full power levels. Okay, breathe. How is Joel? How is Joel's insurance company doing with their end of the bargain?
  12. Now that's some storage waxing. Those things are glued to wall!

C5 Golfer, Got a good one for the house already. Sig P226 stainless, .40. Okay, not everything was lost at sea.
  14. My name is Terrance, friends call me Terry. Not very intimidating huh? Shorten it and "or", and it's scary. Actually, when in high school, me and my friends thing for a while was to add, "or" to everything. My name became "Terr-or", pronounced like, tear oar. Scary huh?
  15. Justin A silencer, or rather, a suppressor, are in fact, legal to own. Suppressors, as well as, short-barreled rifles and automatic weapons can be had in any state which allows Class III weapons. I'm not gonna outline the whole procedure, but, say this: If you're not a criminal(with record), live in a state that allows Class III, submit your application, usually to the Sheriff, pass the background check, pay the $200.00 tax stamp, AND, can afford to buy that ****, it's yours. You, or rather your friends' mistake, was manufacturing such a device. You gotta go through the Feds for that too. Same procedure as above basically, and you can make your own suppressor or SBR. Can't make an automatic though. That goes along with the '86 ban of auto weapons. Can of worms. I'm gonna leave it for now. And really, I love carving. That's why I'm at BOL. And to the topic: That gun would suck. There's no way you could hold on to it if you wanted even 900 fps. The amount of powder for that size bullet would be frightening.

So, It seams we have cowboy-action shooters, as well as being "carvers extraordinaire" in our midst? Back to guns, 'cause it's boosting my post count. Struggling with next purchase, like so many struggle with next snowboard purchase. FAL, or 1911. Two different beasts, for different jobs. Kinda like Pow board v. race deck. You want both 'cause every so often you get good pow, and, you gotta be prepared. Then there's the times when one of B. Vassara's or S. Martin's machines would just slay on an icy day. Leaning towards Kimber for the 1911, and I know what I'm gonna do for an FAL. Want the Kimber, 'cause it's a 1911 dammit! But an FAL is so sweet, and my rifle selection is wanting, 'cause of the boating accident. I wish I just liked snowboards, 'cause it'd be less expensive.

Okay, you're funny. I'll lighten up. But seriously, there's a lot of folks checking this thread, some gun owners and some not. I was just trying to illustrate the legal carry issue for those that have questions. Cheers!

Okay, you're just playin' around. First, you couldn't legally do that. If you put it in your pocket, out of sight, it becomes a concealed weapon. If you have a "Carrying a Concealed Weapon" permit, good to go. I notice you're from the DC area, so in your case, no go. Colorado does not issue an out of state CCW permit. Take up residence, then you can. Second, if you did take a CCW course, which most "shall issue", states require, you would've learned that a permit is not a bullet proof vest or a vigilante card. CCW is a secret, you don't tell people you're packing, and you don't start walking down dark alleys. It's to save your life under the gravest of circumstances.

I have no guns. They were all lost in a tragic boating accident. I'm pro-gun, and pro-2nd amendment, but I have to agree with others, this probably isn't a good place to discuss this. It'll get political real fast.
  20. I think I've got the idea with the ice luge thing, but could you explain it. Sounds like a great tool for drinking. Cheers!

    N00B Here!

dude, the only advice I could offer is, don't claim you can ride "switch". and I'm not trying to tear down your post, or make you look like an ass or something, just don't go for the "switch" thing. it's all bad. That B.S. said, welcome to the board, enjoy your time here. Cheers!
  22. "switch",.......................................... are you guys serious?
  23. I met a carver at Mt Rose, a couple Saturdays ago, who told me his, "got into carving story". He's a skier that had seen guys carving at Rose and thought it looked cool. The guy then tells me he's been on the the thing for 21 days. I met this guy on Northwest, the run, not the lift. Rippin' for 21 days on a carving deck, on Northwest no less. I think skiers have respect for us.
  24. Hey Norm! You're a rockstar! kidding.........Norman does indeed rock.
