  1. I am an admitted waxing nerd. I’ve always liked a waxed base but in recent years, after getting into soft boot carving, I’ve definitely crossed into an obsessive nerd. Some may disagree… but a perfectly tuned board with the right wax for the day glides like a thing of beauty. And once you are used to that perfect glide, any imperfections are very noticeable. I have a few questions that hopefully another nerd can answer First… with a new board is it better to start with a hard wax before going to softer more temp specific waxes or go temp specific and let the layers do there thing? And yes I clean, wax, scape, brush, and polish almost every time I ride. I never use chemical wax removers. With high quality bases they improve as they are waxed and cleaned over and over Second… I have a couple on Donek boards that came with a structured base and they are amazing. Can a board be structured when it comes new un structured from a shop? If so where do I go to get it done? thanks
  2. Well if you haven’t checked your E mail yet you should…… If anyone is just going to ride Whitefish instead let me know. I’ll probably be there See you all next year
  3. It’s decent for sure. We haven’t had the huge dumps that it seems everyone else has, but it still fun. No coverage issues on Big. Front side is firm early and softer if the weather warms up. Bring Spring and Winter layers…. It’s Montana
  4. Bumped it into Mike, another Donek guy at Big mountain today. Super fun ridding laps man lost you on that last run and didn’t exchange info PM me, let’s do some more turns
  5. I have a Donek Flux new this season. I’ve been riding mostly bigger freeride boards for a long time but wanted a dedicated carving board. It’s been an interesting process learning how to really ride it. Not my favorite ride in chunky variable snow, low visibility, or the trees. I’m just not that nimble on it yet. Haven’t really ridden it in the powder or in the steeps…. But when I’ve had it on a clean soft groomer, and can let the sidecut work, that thing is amazing. Kinda terrifying too… it definitely out carves any other board I’ve ever ridden. The process of ordering a Donek was educational to say the least. Those guys are great
  6. Kept poles on my pack heliboarding in Alaska. Really sucks running out of speed on a glacier 100 yards short of the pick up spot
  7. I’ve had a few Jones Flagships. Great freeride boards and ok carvers. Ultra Flagship is definitely stiffer and carved a little. The underrated Jones carver for me is my Ultra Mind Expander. Particularly in steeper less predictable conditions
