  1. Yes Gromel is in the Columbus area. It is a one person garage shop just now. The owner is Russian and he made snowboards when he lived in Moscow in the 80's. Over a few years and a couple of countries, he is making them again. And yes, he is very enthusiastic. I have one of his used boards, a Katana. He made a new one for a friend who is at Snowtrails. Don't have a review on them yet. He is mostly interested in EC boards but says he will build most anything you want. My board and my friend's are more of the EC type, wide. The board that I have has a some carbon in it. He is working with titinal just now, building some boards for the world cup in a week or so in Telluride. More later.
  2. I agree with williamblake. Get a police report. My wife had her skis stolen here in Ohio. She called all the local pawn shops and resale stores. The owner of a Play-it-again store called us back. It appeared that they had her skis. But he wanted to know if she filed a police report. No police report, no skis back. He also asked about the serial numbers and the original receipt. I hope you find them.

I was thinking that I would have more time in February to do such things. My work might be changing so it is uncertain if I can make it. Will think it through again. dbrsb
  5. Wavechaser. See a doc and a PT. They can diagnose which muscles are too strong or weak. And then you in for stretching and balancing muscles. dbrsb
  6. doctor/orthopedic/sportsmed guy. I had lower back pain and had difficulty lifting my left leg to get out of a car. Went to the orthopedic. He asked if I sat at a desk all day hunched over a computer. Well, yes. The PT gave me stretches and core exercises. Feel much better. Still have more to go. Too many years of being a desk jockey. So, I would suggest a sports med ortho guy that likes to see active people. db-rsb
  7. Typical El Niño effects are likely to develop over North America during the upcoming winter season. Those include warmer-than-average temperatures over western and central Canada, and over the western and northern United States. Wetter-than-average conditions are likely over portions of the U.S. Gulf Coast and Florida, while drier-than-average conditions can be expected in the Ohio Valley, the Pacific Northwest, and most of the U.S.-affiliated islands in the north tropical Pacific. This discussion is a consolidated effort of NOAA and its funded institutions. Oceanic and atmospheric conditions are updated weekly on the Climate Prediction Center website (El Niño/La Niña Current Conditions and Expert Discussions). Forecasts for the evolution of El Niño/La Niña are updated monthly in the Forecast Forum section of CPC's Climate Diagnostics Bulletin. The next ENSO Diagnostics Discussion is scheduled for 5 October 2006. To receive an e-mail notification when the monthly ENSO Diagnostic Discussions are released, please send an e-mail message: ncep.list.enso-update@noaa.gov.

  9. Try carving in Ohio. The runs are so short that you never have to worry about leg burn and carving for two minutes on any one run! You are lucky to stretch it out to a minute.
  10. Interesting article in the Detroit newspaper. Travelers to Canada will need a new PASS in '08 ---------------------------------------- Commuters between the United States and Canada will have the option of using a new passport card the size of a driver's license and costing about $50 under a new plan. 11. from hiking around Paradise at Mt Rainier, it has about 35 sq miles of ice/glacier on the top of it. It gave off beautiful hues of blue in the sunlight in the summer.
  12. My son wants to let a few of his friends who ride freestyle try his carving board. He wants to put flow bindings on the board. He will put the bindings on either a Burton Speed (210 waist) or a Burton FP (probably either a 180 or 190 waist). My questions are for such a set up and newbies to carving boards, how much should he be worried about boot overhang? What kind of angles should he set on the board for the bindings? How much of a difference between the front and rear angles should not be exceeded? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Dick
  13. Super Bee lift. 2300 vertical from one lift. Great runs. Also the runs off American Eagle or Excelerator are nice as well.
