  1. some important new Info for EC riders coming to SES... :p :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outrigger
  2. the 3rd strap how to... get a binding similar to a Burton Mission from 2 years ago or Burton still makes a binding called the Freeride that works...also Union and or Ride make a Binding that will work...drill a 3/16 hole through one of the 3 adjustment holes for the Ankle Straps connections as shown in photos, put in a panhead 3/16 in. bolt on each side...This LOCKS the highback UP only... now add and bolt a top strap or booster strap to the top of the Highback as shown...I have used strips cut from an Old 1 an 1/2 " wide leather belt and then add Buckle mechanism to finish...takes about 1/2 hour to put together once you have the parts...simple but very effective if this is what you want? Living and riding at Milk for the last 28 years both the Snow and Grooming and Pitches are what I would call 3 strap Nirvana... :) Good Luck and Be Aware that any alterations like this both void the Bindings warranty and may make you subject to Injury... I have used this style of Binding for 25 years and no breaks or injuries...I typically get 100 to 125 days of use before I have to replace a strap or buckle from usage.
  3. Yojana is my preferred unit Grasshopper...:o
  4. zoom ski was fun and that was that...
  5. 6ft. 1.539 in. tall 24 in. seam softboots 19.785 in. Hardboots 19.785 in. Sorels 19.785 in. Slippers 14.539 in.
  6. as I pull into the #3 chair on Aspen Mt. the Liftie says... "Yea, You Ride the Frozen Wave, just like the guy on the Cold Surf sticker"
  7. Living and Riding where the X games dwell, I have witnessed an unbelievable amount of carnage to unsuspecting new bees...Big Air means Big Crashes for the Pros and disaster for the rest...even the small terrain park on west causes multiple injuries from 1 or 2 ft. off the ground and landing wrong...Riding up on Aspen Mt. requires a great degree of Caution...Surfing the contours while being surrounded by Skiers hauling ass can be trying at times especially in Copper or going down Spar...here is a shot I randomly took from the Gondola yesterday of Copper Trail...
  8. A Real Milkman if there ever was one!!! Aloha Richard
  9. Been calling this Movement a Backside Floater for many years...:) when he touches down All the dead weight comes in and he absorbs it... I guess you could call it Weightless or Flying or maybe You call it Crashing :) I call it Floating as thats what it Feels like to me...
  10. It is unfortunate that you would think that, for that is not intended nor Implied...
  11. :) Competition in What? Dance Style? put some gates up and fastest wins, not always pretty either...:p Surf or Skate style Comps are typically influenced by the Sponsors :) SES and the like are not Competitions, they are Celebrations of the Dance... Is it really necessary to pick winners and losers when it come to Dancing ? If you know the Joy of the Carve...you are a Winner in my Book...:D
  12. from a Camera Copter I assume ....no crowd either...
  13. yes...thats nice too:) and it is nice to see two vids without the Bodyflopping Outriggers...just edge and a Touch here and there...I guess I am a Purist at heart...
  14. sometimes you are in the wrong place at the wrong time... and your Mind Screams as you realize there is no place to go...
  15. This is a Beautiful Video....Thanks for Posting!!! Love Great Technique and this is IT!!!!!! :) the end of the Backside Turn at 58 sec. just blows me away with how Beautiful and Powerful the Position to Slope....perfect Feed into the next turn.... and a couple Backside Floater throw downs as well...just Amazing and Controlled Riding Thanks again for Posting!!!
  16. Yes Indeed! mix this with Slope Undulation and design your own course :) Then throw in a "Backside Floater" Slope Undulation allows us to come over a Rise Backside, completely sitting back and applying pressure at the back end of the Board on the Downside of the Slope, but rather than wash out... by Reading and Utilizing the Slope Undulation of a Compression your Body Weight moves back Forward over your Board as you absorb the Dip or Compression...and Smile thinking what a cool Save :) When We have spent enough Time on a Snowboard to have Experienced All the Different Places and Body Positions that are Possible :) this creates Faith I believe, that allows us to Go Plces We never new in the Beginning... The Floater though is also a move one can Learn on a Wave or a Sidewalk as well...Happy New Year!!
  17. Off the Cali Coast....Way out in the Ocean away from land a Mystical Giant awaits http://www.surfline.com/surflinetv/primetime/cortes-bank-apocalypse-swell_90437
  18. For the Thoughtful responses :) My Intent was how Speed plays a role in Your Dance on the Mountain not so much the Physics of it... I think of a certain John who goes straight and then Cranks one big turn and then Cliff who looks like water flowing...not that either is correct but rather what you enjoy personally...Thanks :)
  19. Sometimes at high speeds going High Side was difficult if not impossible to avoid , while slow speeds allow the Board to go to Full Compression, which then can be fueled into the next turn...at least this has been my experience...I realize the Boards for racers are designed to do this as well at higher speeds :) though from watching Race Videos it is impossible sometimes to suck it up at such Speeds and hence the " I am Now an Airplane " mode often seen... this can break an Ankle or a Leg in an instant, as the Compression can not be quickly absorbed or displaced to avoid injury...
  20. Curious as to what this implies to others here ? Older now and not quite up to Speed :) however thinking back, it was those days when I could literally almost get the whole extended body parallel to the ground while going very slow on the flats that amazed me the most...I think sometimes of Ice Skaters and how they generate Speed with their edges to perform their maneuvers...Likewise by anticipation and outright aggressive weighting from the Toes up, Carving can be done at extremely slow speeds...I guess almost being Run Over numerous times yesterday at Milk by novice Skiers and Boarders who equate Speed with being Good made me think of this topic...
  21. 1999 173 Supermodel...had one and enjoyed the ride though they have been improved over the last 12 years and of course the one last season was the last of the Supermodel line from Burton. :(
  22. Stoked... :) well done! Hawaiian Outrigger Style:eek: Wonderful Technique
  23. Funny Math aside...my best Carving comes when I have equal pressure on both feet and knees... centered over the center in other words leads to the most responsive turns for me. I call it deadweight in that all my body weight when relaxed is allowed to power down the torso into the board, at least that is what it feels like...this is with softboots, locked Highbacks and added top 3rd straps with front 44 and back 42, also a combo of turns with this weighting takes my Mind to Nirvana :D :) which is where I am now having just come down from Ajax...
