  1. Its been awhile. Just checking in. I'll be hardbootin it tonight at Chestnut. I was there back in January and saw a couple of hardbooters.
  2. I have discovered that on icy hard pack days I like unlocked and on softer conditions I lock both down.
  3. You could try the Autobahn country club. I believe you can rent the track. It's a little south of Chicago. http://autobahncc.com/
  4. Yep. TLN and myself have been hardbooting it this season at Wilmot and Chestnut. It appears Chestnut has closed for the season though. Try and hook up with us next season.
  5. Thanks again guys for the additional insights and tips. I didn't get a chance to ride my softboots last weekend and opted to ride hardboots that day. Anyway I probably need to get some video of me riding my hardboots since I may also be doing some of the bad habits on my alpine gear that you guys pointed out.
  6. Thanks for the additional tips. Yes I believe that I am forgetting to drive my knees into the the turn when riding my softboots. I've been told that before with my hardbooting technique that I am only rotating at my waist and not using my knees to further rotate the hips which adds more inclination. Now I just need to apply the knee movement to my softboots. Yes, about my hands, I need to fix that. What an eye opener it is to see yourself snowboarding. I checked my bindings(Burton Diodes) and the rear lean is maxed out and the front is just one click less.
  7. I've got a few VHS tapes with CK I'll have to dig those out. Actually right above my monitor I have an autographed CK baseball card.
  8. Ya the rotation must be from many years of hard booting. Those Technine bindings look awesome. I wish I had my three strap bindings from Burton.
  9. @Eric thanks for the tips. I believe you are correct, I'm not lifting my toes and over rotating pushing the tail to get a tighter turn shape instead of using the edge to tighten the turn. I'll try out you tips this weekend. Thanks again.
  10. Finally got someone to film me while riding. The snow was mushy so opted to ride soft boots instead of hard boots. Sorry for the shaky video but as you'll notice my toe side feels solid but I seem to slip out on my heel sides. Not enough inclination on heel side? Too much or not enough rotation? Not bending knees enough? Thoughts? https://youtu.be/nijVUOWIq7A
  11. If you haven't tried this yet when getting in your Flows, instead of planting your heel edge into the snow plant your toe edge into the snow. That way you can kick your foot into binding with more force. I just get into or out of my Flows while moving.
  12. 2016 Burton Diode EST bindings which I bought a couple of weeks ago. Used twice. Nice and responsive binding. $300 shipped ground to lower 48 states.
  13. Any carvers out there frequent Chestnut Mountain? I'm usually there either Wednesday or Thursday and Sunday with my wife and kids. I've seen a few carvers out there during the holidays.
  14. Be careful what you wish for. My wife and I have been hardbooten it since the early 90s. We then had kids, get softy stuff for everyone and taught them to snowboard now we all go together. First my son is big enough to start stealing my gear, then my wife discovers how nice my gear is from my son, so now she has my gear and now my son needs gear. Fortunately my second son just moves into all the stuff left over from the older boy. Me, I just ride whatever not taken(skis, blades, or race alpine boards). Now when the UPS guy comes its stuff for my wife or kids. But the trip home from a day with family is truly worth it.
