  1. I just got Track 700s with 141s and had them molded a few days ago. They were painfully tight and with toe caps and foam pieces on various bumps excruciatingly so. After molding they're comfy, with wiggle room for my toes.
  2. Sorry for the delay, I'll get them in a box and see what the postage is tomorrow..
  3. Boots are probably 10 years old but have not been used in several years. Shells are in very good shape, liners are original and may or may not be ok for you. Rubber heels, I put the Intecs on other boots. Just pay Priority Mail.
  4. I have a very high instep and find it impossible to get into my UPZ boots unless they are kept quite warm in a heated boot bag, I will still sometimes scrape the top of my foot on the edge of the shell badly enough to need a bandaid. Once on they are the most comfortable boots I have ever used. Has anyone else with this problem found a solution to this delemma? Perhaps grinding the shell thinner for more flex or grinding grooves?
  5. Thanks, that's helpful. Heading up for first day this season on Friday.
  6. I'm nursing a knee with little cartilage left. How does one modify technique to reduce stress on the joint? The only thing I have come up with so far is to try to never have a straight leg - heel side panic stops are a killer. Suggestions would be much appreciated.
  7. I started many years ago on a "sort of" alpine board (maybe a Kemper?) with three strap bindings and Sorels with a moderately forward stance. Switched to a proper alpine board shortly thereafter ( a Mistral asym and ski boots), but still prefer soft boots and a dedicated powder board (Fishcuit) with a forward stance on powder days. I could never get comfortable with the square stance and find that an alpine stance works well for me on a short wide board with soft boots, and as above, it carves ok at low speed.
  8. 74. Hoping my knee holds up more season before a rebuild.
  9. +1 for Scott Newsome - We rode with him several times when he was guiding for his dad's catski operation in Revelstoke. He is an excellent guide and managed to avoid the flats and endless traverses that the ski-mounted guides often find. Haven't been to Eagle Pass yet - maybe next winter.
  10. We flew into Anchorage and drove. It is a long drive but really beautiful. Also did a couple of days at Alyeska - Could be a fun hill if you got good snow but was pretty hard and super cold when we were there. Since we are coming from Hawaii there is no great difference in airfare.
  11. With the dollar in the tank and not looking to get better soon Alaska is really worth considering. Rates can be much lower than Canada. My son and I have gone a couple of times to Valdez, Ak. with Alaska Backcountry Adventures. It is very basic service compared to the luxo operations - Heli, guide, fantastic terrain, lots of riding. You're on your own for lodging and meals (lots in Valdez), bring your own lunch, snacks, drinks. The most fun I have ever had - definitely going back.
  12. Check out www.tognar.com. They have everything you could possibly need plus how to advice and videos.
  13. One note of caution - they are very hard to get when cold into if you have high arches. I tried them on at home and they were a bit of a tight fit bot not a real problem. When I got to the mountain they were simply impossible to get on. The folks at Elite Feet heated them so I could get them on and I ended up buying a heated bag to keep them warm between house and slopes. Getting them off is sometimes painful but so far always possible. Once on I much prefer them to the Heads I used previously.
